Hey guys! Last June, meaning of 2021, I had a clutch that went very poorly and only one baby out of 5 survived.
She was born at 35g.
She is 1yr. 4mo. Old and weighs just 250g, she eats a small weaned f/t rat weekly, has a fantastic appetite, sheds normal, acts very social.
Her temps are 88 on the warm side, 76 on the cool, she’s kept in a 21qt. tub.
My question is, is she stunted?
I put pics of her too, she’s a YB.
In my opinion, that is small for her age. However her body condition looks good, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much and just let her grow at her own pace
They continue to grow throughout their life. Because she started so small I wouldn’t worry about it. She will catch up eventually
She will be a smaller sized ball python, still within the normal range I would think. She started small, and I don’t know the sizes of her parents, but some ball pythons end up around 3 feet 1000-1200g there isn’t a set size they get to. More of a range, so I wouldn’t call her stunted, I have a adult female breeder who was born a little small and came from a smaller mom, she tops out around 1100-1300g(depending on season)and has been a proven breeder and completely healthy, although she doesn’t lay huge 10-12 egg clutches more around 4-7.
Thanks for all the replies, her mom is 1950g and her dad was 1000g. My other female juvi is a little over a year and she’s at 450g.
Guess she get big one day!
