Sudden unfortunate news

So this is very sudden and sad news. One of the two first Brooks’ Kingsnakes I’ve kept passed away today after raising him from a baby 12 years ago… I found him at peace inside his enclosure 30 minutes ago after getting home. I had no idea he was passing away and showed no signs of stress or illness, he ate just fine with his regular meal of 1 large mouse Wednesday acting like his usual self- no regurg or anything no odd defication… just passed away peacefully and suddenly.:pensive:

I’d like to ask if anyone knows someone who does really good skeletal preservation with snakes or knows how to do wet speciments, though I’d prefer skeletal preservation… if anyone does or knows someone who does that I’d very greatly appreciate it.

Heres my boy, he gave me 4 big healthy clutches of babies over the years… I will miss him dearly :disappointed:

I am so sorry for your loss @cmsreptiles and I hope someone here is able to point you in the right direction to someone who can indeed do skeletal preservation

Awww, so sorry for your loss. He was a beautiful animal.
12 years is still a long time. We always talk about how good reptiles are at hiding issues but it always hits us hard when it happens.

mixed_mamas_creations on insta posts a lot of wet specimens they have done for people. Maybe if they can’t they can recommend someone who can.

So sorry to hear about your sad news Christina!. He was truly a regal little man. Now he’s happily hunting mice at Rainbow Bridge……:people_hugging:

I’m sorry for your loss. It’s a shock when they pass suddenly. They really become part of the family over the years. I hope you are able to find someone to help with preservation as you wish.
