Tank question

Hi. First post on here but excited to join the community.

Quick intro on my experience as a hobbyist: I’ve kept a corn snake, leopard gecko and a praying mantis. I’m now in a position where I can have a smaller set up and want to get a crested gecko. I have a question regarding tanks:

I’ve just got an eBay offer (from a legit business account, I checked) for a ReptileOne RTF-600HT tank (60 x 45 x 60). It’s a good price but as far as I can tell one side of the Viv has a mesh vent taking up maybe 10cm. My concern is maintaing the humidity in a tank with this feature.

I was looking at a Habistat glass Viv with the same dimensions, little bit pricier but not hideously so.

What do people think? I was wondering if I lined some cork bark up over that part of the wall and had some trailing plants hanging down (I aim to go bioactive) then that might work.

Thanks!

Unless you live somewhere super dry, it shouldn’t be an issue. I live somewhere relatively humid, but i use the same type (different dimensions, and reptizoo branded, but 99% certain it’s exactly the same otherwise) for my BP, and he’s never had a bad shed. He’s got a nice thick layer of coco husk that i add water to about once a month and that’s enough. In my Exo Terras (cresties), i only need to mist about once a week.

Thanks for the reply. What does BP stand for? I can’t work it out.

Course it does :person_facepalming:t2:

It’s okay lol, it takes a sec to figure out reptile-people language but eventually you’ll be fluent
