Yay! That snow tessera is nice.
I literally laughed out loud at the second photo. Wonder what the baby who is halfway out of its egg and halfway upside down thinks of the sibling gathering that’s happening practically on top of it? Is it, “C’mon, do you mind? A bit of privacy please!” Or is it more, “Wait, don’t start the party without me! I’m coming as fast as I can!”
Well, I do believe it’s time to open the box and sort this mess out now! New baby photos coming soon!
A fun task! Can’t wait to see your pics.
Suh-weeeet!
No names yet, so these kids are currently One, Four, and Eight (hatch order).
Both of the Aneries have blue-gray eyes and are brown tinted. The Snow Tessera has adorably pink cheeks. I am also delighted to say that all three have readily taken their first meals when offered, had them fed in less than 5 minutes.
Beautiful babies! So glad they ate without issue.
Considering I still have one problem child from last year, I will gladly take a batch of voracious eaters! The very first one I tried feeding took directly off of tongs, much to my surprise.
Excellent!!
Yay for healthy, happily feeding babies! Beautiful is a wonderful bonus. CONGRATS!
Me: Mentions the problem child from last year.
Said problem child same day, without any intervention from myself:
I’m totally okay with this boy finally eating again. 14g as a yearling, his heaviest weight was 17g last fall before he stopped eating entirely. I’ll truly relax when he takes multiple meals unassisted, but for now we have progress!
As for this year’s babies, five more have shed and I’ll be attempting to feed them momentarily. Two, Three, Five, Six, and Ten:
Nice! Pretty hatchlings, Jess.
They’re quite dapper in their fresh colors. Here’s Twelve, who decided to shed just after I moved the others out. All six have now taken meals and are set up in their bins. Only four left in the incubator now!
Hooray for shedding, double hooray for feeding hatchlings. Triple hooray for last year’s problem child eating on his own!
No photos with this update because it’s late and I decided to feed everyone instead of worrying about showing them off (I’m tired ). The final four have shed and eaten! In a surprising turn of events, all of this year’s hatchlings either ate off of tongs or after a pinky was set in front of them. Now starts the process of growing everyone up.
Great head pattern on that second one!
That one might just be my favorite thus far. Annoyingly, that is also the only one that is extra spicy, making it hard to get good photos or even handle it. Everyone else was perfectly chill, too.
They’re so pretty! I really like the image of Seven and Thirteen together, that’s a nice shot.
Update for the day: It’s looking like the clutch was a pretty even split of sexes, with the boys getting the majority by one. Males include: One, Two, Four, Six, Ten, Eleven, and Twelve. Girls are: Three, Five, Seven, Eight, Nine, and Thirteen.
You can, in fact, visually sex Aneries by candling at this age, provided you know what you’re looking for and they don’t have an overly dark tail. Which makes life that much easier.
