True Texas Rats

Why is it so hard to find true Texas Ratsnakes? Are there any out there?

What do you mean by “true” texas rats? A locality? An animal that isn’t from a line of morphs?

There are some for sale on MorphMarket right now so I’m not sure what you’re asking or looking for here…

Mods delete if not allowed. Check Adam Morris’ IG at remes_herpetoculture. He has some stunning locality texas rats. I would also recommend joining the Texas Rat Snake Keepers group on FB.

Yes this ! Sorry if I worded it badly . I’ve got an albino Texas rat but it seems I can’t really find many normals.

what do you mean? A texas without a morph? Are you referring to how texas rats used to be a subspecies but were grouped back into the westerns?

Edit: seems we replied at the same time. I know I have seen some normals on MM as well as at expos. A morph doesn’t make something different other than the looks. A scaleless and a normal are both just as much of a Texas as each other

I think you technically need to have a CCES Permit to even be able to sell them legally.

That only applies to non native venomous and the giant constrictors. And from what I have read, the CCES permit is only in texas.

Thank you Adam had what I was looking for!

Great! I chatted with him on IG a few weeks ago. Seems like a great guy. I don’t have any texas rats but if I end up getting some in the future he’ll be my guy.

That was directed more towards Texas sellers for the true texas rats
