Hello! I just got this bci boa, but im not sure what it is. The store said colombian, but also that he wouldnt get that big but i read colombians can get massive?? I thought it was a CA /: if it isnt, despite how much i already love him, i cant see myself taking care of a 6+ ft snake, i just wont have the enclosure space for it and im already thinking of rehoming. Do you guys think this is colombian? I hate to do this to the guy, but itll hurt more 10 years from now when hes big and i cant provide. Please any info is appreciated. PS. The person didnt know how big the parents were. Just told me to feed it less and itll be fine
I’m tempted to have a verbal fit about this statement and rant and rave. I will leave that for others. I would stay really far away from whatever idiot told you this.
Experts will be here to tell you about your boa.
Look to be BCI, hard to tell exact lineage. The person who sold it to you is ridiculous and hope they dont have any other boas. Id rehome it now if a 6’ boa is going to be too much to handle.
There are Columbian BCIs and Columbian BCCs. Columbian BCIs stay around the average BCI size while the Columbian BCCs are the ones who will occasionally get 12 feet but those animals tend to be over fed. The BCCs usually stay around 7-10 feet
Go take a look at this thread for a little deeper dive into what you’ve got.
Another thing to keep in mind when it comes to boas besides length, its weight is also a huge factor. An 6’-8’ snake is one thing but when that boa is 30-50 pounds like some BCC, thats a whole different ball game👍
