Under The Microscope

Very cool! I tried this awhile ago with Kai’s shed. It the results turn out better with lower brightness.

It was a bunch of fun trying to see the differences based on what/where the shed came from.

I like the way you can see the bumps change the direction and colour of the light on yours

How are you each taking the pictures, with a microscope?

I’m just using a clip on lense for my phone that has a little LED on it.

It is a fun thing to play around with. I might try to get some new pictures in a few days.

I’ve thought about buying a microscope for fun and cheap fecal samples (not as a replacement to vets but an addition).

Here’s some of Monica the monitor.

If anyone wants to give this a try, this is the sort of clip-on lense I’m using. You can likely find them cheaper elsewhere.

The difficult thing with these clips is that most phones now have multiple cameras for different ratio/zooms, meaning you need to move the lense around between zooming in and out. His can be hard to do with an animal in one hand.

If you zoom in you can see the nipples/dimples on each scale.
