Unsure if my normal male has hidden genes

So its best to still handle them even though they make a big effort to escape? Or would waiting until they become easier to handle be better, or would this inhibit their handling later on in life?

The more confident you become in handling the more the snake will trust you. And a baby bite is a heck of a lot better than an adult. Plus trying to deal with a 5ft rope of a snake is a heck of a lot harder than one that can fit in a ten gallon tub with room to spare. Positive experiences work even on reptiles. And your snake will associate your scent with safety and security.
