Anyone have any information on the “Virus” gene. I cant find info anywhere other than the few for sale posts saying here is your chance at owning at up and coming gene.
Only info I’ve seen, is the gene was originated by Rodney Miller of RMSN. Go to hia page and there is no story about it. Cant even find this gene listed.
Dont get me wrong, the snakes ive seen that say it has the “Virus” gene do look different than a matching gene combo but there isnt anything that pops “new gene” to me.
Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks

Rodney has posted on a few of his ads things like this:
Virus name because of the virus shape pattern that has appeared in about 50% of each clutch
Proven genetics are Banana, butter, calico, enchi, pastel, vanilla and yb
Produced here in 2019
This pattern could be caused by the combination of genetics or possibly something new.
The virus breeder male is also pictured in the add
He also commented on one that he ended up naming the origin The Virus. The original breeder male was a cool looking paradox.
And another ad had said the results were different than what he expected from a repeat pairing.
It’s difficult to really say much on it. There definitely is something going on from what it looks like. The patterns do distort in a neat way…But I don’t know how easy it is to reproduce the results. Or if polygenic traits will dilute it down over time.
I personally try not to buy into the ‘up and coming new gene’ type comments. It feels like most of the people I see saying it have something that just isn’t as exciting as they make it sound. I try and let the animals speak for themselves.
