Good morning, Morph Community. I hope everyone has a fantastic thanksgiving surrounded by loved ones. I have a question about my pied bp, and his name is Ghost. Ghost just went through his shedding process and there was small piece of shed stuck. It looked a little darker than usually on his white scales So, I soaked in warm water for about 7 minutes, and I carefully pulled off the stuck piece of shed. Now he has a small little pink/reddish. Now Ghost has never had any issues with shedding nor has anything ever been stuck like that or that color. Does anyone have idea what that might have been? AS far as the small pink/reddish spot do I need to be concerned at all? I tried getting as good of a picture as I could.
If you feed live, could be a bite. Either way, looks like minor damage. Should clear next shed or few. Keep an eye on it. If it gets worse, see a vet. You could also put ointment for cuts on it.
It wasn’t a bite as I feed him f/t. It was a piece a shed stuck on him which look kind of dark. I will keep an eye on it thank you! Do you know of any ointment I could put on it for him?
I have used and heard of using neosporin. It does not look bad and mostly healed I would think you are OK. Hard to say what happened, if it is some sort of damage. These things are hard to tell from a picture, but this is my best guess.
Make sure the antibiotic ointment you use does not have pain relief in it. Only your standard triple antibiotic ointment is safe for reptiles. It doesn’t seem necessary to use it in this case however.
Topical treatment won’t do anything for that, the redness is irritation not an open sore. It will shed out just fine. I know if can be stressful until you’re used to reptiles, but they’re extremely hardy.
My vet has suggested using vitamin E oil in the past for spots like these on my snakes. You can buy it in bottled liquid form. I don’t feed live either but sometimes these things happen……
Best Regards!

I agree with ashleyraeanne above.
it doesn’t seem like a significant issue, its just one bit of shed scale that came off a bit bad in a not perfect shed from what you say.
In addition, I would just say put it on paper substrate and maximum hygiene until it sheds next.
Not medical advice fir sure, but just my experience.
You probably wouldn’t have even noticed it if it wasn’t on a white snake. white snakes excaudate every little mark.
