Well, this wasn't a colour I was expecting to see!

I made a bunch of paper towel ‘linguini’ and put it in the hide I have the duo in, so they have something taking up space/for burrowing.

Ran to Snake Discovery to pick up some teeny hides today so I can move the non-eaters into solo enclosures this evening.

…I might’ve also picked up a gorgeous Anery Tessera girl they had for adoption.

The new and improved baby bin design. The other looks the same. Will be adding similar improvements to the rest as well.

That looks friendly and workable. Little ones need to feel secure to thrive. Generally in those first weeks, the tighter they can squish themselves in, the happier they are.

One of the things I use as a hide for babies is a “hollow log” made of a bathroom tissue core cut in half. It’s not pretty, but it can easily be snugged down into bedding and just as easily picked up so the little ones are abie to be picked up without a chase. They seem to feel secure with the low clearance as they can get contact on a lot of their sides and back. Usually those who have a choice of hides actually pick these.

That’d be the brown under the paper towel ‘linguini’ between the hide and the water dish.

Oh, if there’s anyone wondering about the gluttonous Hoover, they have not regurgitated. Still looking a bit sausage-y, but passing waste and happy as a clam.

Glad to hear Hoover (great name) is doing well!

Everyone continues to thrive, aside the baby who has yet to eat their first meal & Sneaky. Those two are acting fine but continue to refuse all offerings, even if I cut them smaller. If push comes to shove, I might buy some Reptilinks and try those.

Hoover still has not regurgitated, but is definitely still chonky. Leaky is also doing well, eating and growing. It’s funny, all the babies in the odd numbered bins are great, the evens, though…Problems.

As for mama Sienna, she’s now up and over her pre-breeding season weight with no signs of a second clutch, so I guess we’ll see there. It’s possible she’s done for this year, and I’d be perfectly okay with that!

Decided it was time to post a few updated photos. These are bins 1-3, in order. Couldn’t manage to get the colours in the photos exactly right, but it’s indoors with harsh lighting, so it’s the best I could do. Photo 2 is one of the Masque babies. Hoover and Leaky are the last two photos.

I’ll add pics of bins 4-6 in the coming days, didn’t have the energy to manage everyone, and a couple are digesting at the moment.

Leaky is an absolute glutton and has already doubled their hatch weight. :plate_with_cutlery:

Bit of an update: I decided to give popping a go, after watching many a video tutorial. As of right now, it looks like I ended up with six males, four females. Leaky and the other Amel both appear to be boys. Hoover, it seems, is female, as is the gorgeous Masque baby I’ve been calling Keeper due to being a hold back regardless thanks to her patterning. Not ideal, but the one absolute stunner being female is enough for me. Seems if this all holds up, @lumpy, you and I have some things to work out.

Hooray for healthy babies! Three extra cheers for Leakey!

I’m glad you gave popping a try. It helps at first if the babies aren’t the extra-wriggly type. I’ve got one atm whom I’ve still got labeled as “female?” S/he hasn’t proven to be male but neither has she been stellar in the cooperation department .

I figured you understood, it’s all good. :slightly_smiling_face: Reminds me, he’s in blue at the moment. Can’t wait to see the colour progression after this next shed!

Yes , he has some beautiful coloring already. I know that it will get better with more size lol :joy:.

Leakey is growing so fast! Coloring up nicely, too!

After dinner he weighed about 19g, 2.5-3g of which was pinky. Means he’s tracking around 16-17g. Also completely hand tame, can be handled after a feed with zero regurgitation issues, will occasionally just slither up my arm to say hi. Most social baby of the clutch, tied with Keeper.
