I’m very interested in getting a large colubrid like a yellow tail cribo or a chinese king rat snake. I love the idea of a very active intelligent snake that I can interact with daily. My current snakes are only awake in the evening and I would love to have a snake around during the day. I’ve heard that they poop a lot and are very messy however. Is it bad enough to the point that it’s a burden and would take away from the joy of owning one? Or is it similar to scooping the litter box for a cat every day?

I’ve read in a few places that drymarchon can be poop sprayers but no personal experience with them.
However, once you get to know what their habits are you can pretty much predict when you’re going to need to clean and whether it is safe to handle without getting painted.

Yes same here. They have quite a poop legend surrounding them lol. But I also hear some people say it’s blown out of proportion, like you said you learn to manage it. And sometimes you can get them to use a water bowl as a litter box which helps lol.
