I’m not sure what kind of leopard gecko I got from petsmart is. I know that it’s still a juvenile and his tail is still growing back from an injury. The first two images are it’s natural color and the other is just to show more of its spots. Thank you in advance.
It looks like a super hypo tangerine carrot tail baldy (SHTCTB). I’m not positive on the carrot tail, I would need a clear overhead picture that shows the tail.
Yeah I agree with you though, how are you seeing the carrot tail, just wondering?
I would say no on the carrot tail but some people might call it a low-expression carrot tail.
@twinklecat1217 Carrot tail describes how far the orange goes up the tail, typically the guidelines 15% for whether or not it’s a carrot tail. Since this tail isn’t complete and there are colors over the orange I personally wouldn’t call it carrot tail.
Ok, thanks. Then yes, I agree for no carrot tail.
Cute little guy! If the original tail is 15% or more orange, then it is a Carrot Tail. With this update photo, even with the original injury I’d say it is a Carrot Tail. So a SHCTB, some would say Tangerine but I would say Jungle High Yellow.
Please keep in mind that your gecko is still very young and it’s very common for appearances to change drastically from this age to adulthood.
I agree that it looks like a carrot tail now.
Any idea on this one? @mblaney @erie-herps Asking for someone I know.
Some sort of albino patternless?
It looks like an albino blizzard or murphy’s patternless. There’s no way to tell the albino strain or if it’s blizzard or murphy’s.
Thankyou!
This is a tricky one, very tricky. If those are light spots by the base of the tail and on the head, it’s a Super Hypo and not Patternless or Blizzard. It’s definitely one of the three strains of albino. It also looks like it has a slightly pied nose & darker red eyes, so it’s probably an Eclipse (slight possibility of other eye stuff). So I’m thinking Super Hypo + Albino + Eclipse, so either a Raptor, Radar, or Typhoon in order from most to least common. If those aren’t faint spots by the base if the tail and on the head, then it’s a Patternless and/or Blizzard. There may be W & Y involved, I’m not good at recognizing it.
