What is she doing?

Hello!
I’m super curious what my gecko is trying to tell me. I’m assuming it’s a “please leave me alone” kind of thing but I’ve only seen her do this. Other geckos that I’ve had will do a very fast head shake usually accompanied by a squeak and tail wiggle. She just does this slow, side to side motion.
She is a female, about a year old. She’s done this even as a baby.

Not a crestie owner so I’m not sure on all the ins and outs, but does she also have any other quirks to her besides this?
Is this only when she’s eating or not wanting to eat?

Since she has been doing this since you got her I would say that this is possibly a neurological disorder. Cresties will also twitch from fear or stress or sometimes from improper husbandry and even MBD/calcium deficiency. If you have access to a reptile vet you can always make an appointment to have her checked out. I have never seen this in the cresties I have owned……

She’s a little cutie!

She has always been a good eater for me,.I’m not sure if it was from getting her out and handling her a little kind of put her in a funk or what. She ate after she snapped out of it, went all big eyed and grabbed the worm.like nothing happened. Nothing neurological that I noticed.

I can most definitely get her checked out! Could possibly be neurological, very weird though! She’ll do it for a little while then act normal. Hopefully it’s nothing like a seizure… now that I’m thinking about it I’m quite worried so I’ll get her into a vet ASAP!
Thank you though! :pray:t2:

If she has been doing this for a year and it has not gotten any worse I would not panic yet. That’s not good for you OR her! I didn’t mean to scare you. Making a vet appointment will hopefully  give you an answer instead of guessing. This is the best thing you can do.

But try not to worry or borrow trouble! I could be TOTALLY wrong about the neurological possibility!:heart:

This does sound more like a neurological issue like small seizures. I was hesitant to say outright without a little more info.

Not all seizures act like what we think with the shaking and the muscle spasms. In cats or dogs they can stare into space and lick their noses over and over for example. So it can get missed when they’re not having other symptoms.

I would consider getting a vet to look at her as Caron suggested. And if you haven’t already, maybe pick up some extra vitamins and calcium just to make sure it’s not something like a vitamin B, D or A deficiency. You don’t need to go crazy, but you can mix a little of both into a Ziploc baggies and shake some mealies up with it before giving them once or twice a week.

Also… Forgot to say. I like your username it’s cute =)
