What is the best way to manage the recordkeeping of your reptiles?

Hi, I have a question. How do most reptile keepers manage record keeping ? I have heard some breeders rave about husbandry pro. I personally do everything on Microsoft Word, but I am wondering if there is a better way. Please understand I completely hate spreadsheets so that makes it very difficult to use them. Does anybody else use something different that I might look into as well as husbandry pro?

I record everything on index cards now :woman_shrugging:

I guess that makes me old-fashioned, but I prefer tangible records over electronic records… everyone will have different preferences though. I like the index cards because I can send them off with animals I sell to give the new owner a good idea of how their care was done with me.

The only thing I record electronically is breeding and offspring through MorphMarket.

I also use index cards. I do use a spreadsheet for financial records, but that’s a very different situation. I use Pages to compose documents and expo table signage, but that’s different too.

Index cards were supposedly originally designed to do something fairly close to herp record keeping:

I just use a Word document on my phone. Only slightly more high-tech than index cards, but it gets the job done well enough.

Though it’s worth mentioning that I only have 3 snakes. I also have 5 spiders, and their feedings get recorded in their own Word document.

If I had a larger collection, I’d probably want to try a different method, but this has worked fine for me. :person_shrugging:
