This is my first snake and I got it from Uncle bills. 2 days later I find this.

Is it on the lower third of the belly? If so it’s just his belly button from where the egg yolk was attached 
It will heal over time.

Yes. I never knew snakes had belly buttons… my leopard gecko even has one too.

That makes sense because animals have to have a way of absorbing nutrients/calories/egg yolk through a “cord” of some type which has to attach the animal somehow, as with humans……

Yup, belly button! Reptiles still have an umbilicus as embryos, it’s just attached to the yolk inside the egg instead of being attached to a placenta like it would be with a mammal. So snakes have belly buttons too.

Actually, they can have “outies.” It isn’t a good thing, but it can happen if they herniate, usually when the umbilicus is pulled too strongly and doesn’t break away for whatever reason. Babies who do this need a little extra TLC but they usually do fine.
