Sorry for the noob question, but why is Crested Gecko not an option under the Morphmarket Calculators? And what then do you use?
You don’t with crested geckos.
Morphs and traits depend on lineages.
You can’t put 2 cresties together and get out 1/2 exact geckos only.
Like with fat tails/leopards/snakes etc.
You could put 2 Dalmatians together and think you’ll only get out dals and super dals.
But then you get out a harlequin because they’re in parents lineage.
Kinder surprises.
You can have a pretty good guess but cannot guarantee exact.
ok, awesome, thanks!
It’s more so because the traits are still being mapped out, and most of what is established in the hobby are actually polymorphic morphs rather than single traits, as well as based on visuals rather than genetics, which means based on current terminology, you can have two geckos that are described as the same morph, but are genetically different. As an example, Flame, Harlequin, and Extreme Harlequin are all the same trait(s) but different expressions. Because of that most people don’t really know what their geckos actually carry, making it really hard to predict what the different pairings will throw, unless you’ve worked with your geckos for a few seasons, and have figured out what they actually carry
