Hi! I’m a boa owner, I have a beautiful 1.5 year old boa- she’s my pride and joy. I purchased her from an expo a little while back, around a year ago now. Her sellers were clearly not the actual breeders and she was the only snake they even had at the table (the rest being geckos and a few hedgehogs and rats). I bought her for $100 which was weird because she’s very clearly a morph of some kind. Her deli didn’t have any info beyond her price and species.
I asked them if she was a hypo and they responded with “yeah, some type of hypo”. I’ve been assuming she’s a super hypo as she’s much lighter than I’d expect a regular hypo to be, however I’m not exactly an expert in boa constrictor genes. Would anyone be able to tell me what she actually is? Thanks heaps! (As a sidenote she appears darker in photos, in real life she’s a soft tan and baby pink color with some maroons and bluish greys)
She’s beautiful! I agree she looks hypo, though I couldn’t tell you if she’s a specific line of hypo, you’d really need her pairing info to know that for sure.
I’m not seeing anything aside from hypo that jumps out at me. It’s possible she’s maybe got some sort of pastel in her, but I’m not super knowledgeable about that stuff.
I agree, a beautiful hypo boa. Looks pretty clean and reduced, very nice.
I think that’s the best ID you’re going to get and the only morph you could confidently call it. Locality crosses and selective breeding (pastel lines) can change the look/coloration, but it would still be 1 morph/mutation.
Thanks heaps! (This goes for everyone in this thread). I’d never heard of pastels in boas and several people here have mentioned that she looks like she could be pastel- after looking it up I do think that’s pretty likely she’s from a pastel line alongside hypo! I wish I had better access to her genetics and lineage but that’s what you get from buying a random boa from an expo table lol… no regrets though, she’s a sweetie! Much appreciated <3
