Hello All,
I am absolutely in love with the yellow in crested geckos and also the lavender coloration! I want to enhance these traits somehow and heard that breeding a yellow lav with a black or red base gecko would be able to do this. Any advice in how to enhance these genes? My boy was sold to me as a yellow lavender dalmation extreme. I don’t mind the dalmation spots in a partner for him.
Any advice appreciated!
Thank you!
If you want to enhance certain traits, i’d go for something similar. If you want a brighter base, go for something bright, if you want more pattern, go for a gecko with more pattern already. You could also try adding tangerine. But not every red base or black base is the same, so it’s hard to say something definitive like that, you usually need to look at the visuals as well. He appears to just be a lavender harlequin, a “yellow lavender” isn’t a thing, as both of those usually refers to their base colour. It is also not uncommon for a lavender’s white pattern to yellow out as it grows, so no need to mention the yellowing. I also wouldn’t consider him an extreme, but a decent expression of harlequin

Really great advice! I was wondering about the extreme too because I showed a picture of him to a breeder at an expo and they said the same thing. I am excited to find a female for him and that will add some brightness! Thanks again
