I have a female grey rat snake, and have plans on getting a male in the future for breeding. I dont mind crossbreeding, and grey ratsnakes aren’t real easy to find compared to the black ratsnakes. So the question is do the grey, black, and Everglades ratsnakes all fall under the umbrella term of eastern ratsnake or are they still seperate things?

@t_h_wyman @ballornothing Either of you well versed in the current rat snake taxonomy?

To the best of my knowledge, they are all still under the umbrella of ‘Eastern rat snake complex’ and my personal belief is that they are just a single species with a latitude-associated population-biased colouration gradient (which we see in plenty of other species and readily accept)
