Which Kingsnake...ID please

Ok. This little dude was given to us when the owner decides that snakes weren’t cool anymore. Said it was a desert kingsnake. Can’t find one like it to compare it to. Can yall help a brother out?

My very uneducated guess would be Speckled Kingsnake. Good luck finding the species!

When the young lady that owned him previously asked if we would like to take ownership of him, I jumped at the chance! She sold all of the ball pythons that she was keeping as breeders and the babies. She realized that she wouldn’t be able to care for them her senior year in HS and in college. Took her almost a year to get them all rehomed. She was pretty picky about the new owners.

I dont think its a speckled king, The speckled usually have a darker tone. Maybe some morph of brooks king? Or some kind of hypo

I kinda agree. Do the speckled kingsnake’s patterns change up as they get older? I noticed that the speckled on the MM all have intermittent gaps in the pattern on them.

Yes, this baby looks a lot more “golden” than others I found on the internet. The internet snakes were black with gold specks, and this picture looks more gold with black specks. Could possibly be a morph or an entirely different species.

If I had to guess. Some sort of goini cross. Maybe goini x floridana. I have holbrooki babies and they’re not like that. Head shape is different too.

Now that I look at an Apalachicola kingsnake, I’m pretty sure that is what he is.
