Your on mine lol! Your projects are so cool! In five years, I am going to end up with +20 ridiculous baby boas and no one will know about me lol .

I hope I at least get well known and or recognized at my local reptile expo. I got some cool ideas for a lot of hognose combos, and I’m planning on working with some relatively untouched projects, like pink pastel and sable, so maybe I can at least get known for hognoses at my local expo. I doubt I’ll ever end up in a list like this though.

For people that are big in the hognose world, Jeff Galewood, no doubt.

I actually got into reptiles through Justin Kobylka! I had been watching a lot of pet tubers recently at the time and Justin’s YouTube channel popped up in my recommended, and I spent hours binging his videos. So for me personally he’ll always be a legend in my eyes for getting me into reptiles, something that’s become one of my biggest passions :blue_heart:

Other than that, overall Steve Irwin and Brian Barczyk have definitely done a lot! Steve is someone I would watch a lot when I was young, though I wasn’t much older than 4 years old when he passed, he’s still the guy that gave me my love for animals.

Brian Barczyk, as controversial as he is, has no doubt had a huge influence on the hobby as a whole and I know he directly influenced and inspired many reptile keepers we know today.

Ralph Davis, Craig Trumbower, Bob Applegate, Klaus, Vin Russo, Dan Mulleary, and a lot more who I haven’t seen mentioned here. Yes I’m older than Youtube :man_shrugging:

If I had to say one person who’s impact will last forever….Dave and Tracy Barker :joy:

Don: names two people  but I agree, these guys definitely deserve a spot.

Maybe a Personality Of The Year contest is needed

In like 30 it’s my hope to be on someone’s list

Same. I’d be happy with any level of impact on the reptile world though, even if it’s just popularizing a single morph or something like that.

Hard to pick between three. Tom Crutchfield mainly because of his work with actually traveling to a lot of other countries when it wasn’t really safe to do so and bringing a lot of the animals we have now into the country for the first time and learning how to care for them. Kevin McCurley because of his work with taming down animals and is probably Our Generation if not this Century’s Doctor Dolittle. And of course the controversial Brian Barczyk mainly because his YouTube channel has spread reptiles and the knowledge of a lot of species to a lot of people most of it with a positive influence and outcome.

If kevin and brian are the ‘benchmark’ we’ve gone wrong somewhere. Even Justin, as much as he’s done, the impact doesn’t extend beyond ball pythons. I love them all, but to say they’ve contributed the way someone like Tracy Baker had, is being disingenuous to science on a foundational level…

I’m guessing that most of you don’t know how instrumental the Barkers were in getting the Lacey act rolled back to something resembling practical. The entire face of the hobby would be much different if not for their work.

Edit to add: when you see the letters VPI that stands for Vida Preciosa International which IS Dave and Tracy

Agreed. The Barkers are legends. The real deal if ever there were one. It is sad to see so many equate YouTubers with legendary status.
