I’ve been deciding on who to pair for the next breeding season and thought of pairing a few together but I wanted to see what others would choose as well!

Out of these optioms, I’d do Cyrene x Apollo, Aphrodite x Helios, and Ares x Luna and Hestia

Apollo and Cyrene
Helios and Aphrodite
Ares and Hestia
I personally wouldn’t breed Luna as she doens’t have great structure or pattern/color

My main considerations here were the pinstriping and the base-colour. I generally try to avoid mixing strong pinning with little/no pinning, since no pinning usually means stronger tigering, and tiger and pinstripe works against eachother. This means that mixing them is typically quite counterproductive, depending on your project.
Cyrene and Apollo both appear to be yellows with full/near full pinstriping, so imo they’d be the best match for eachother out of these 6. They also both have that funky pinstripe look going on, so that would be interesting to pair up.
Aphrodite and Helios both appear to be dark het emptybacks with strong pinning, so they might make supers. Imo they’re probably the best possible pairing out of all the options.
Both Hestia and Luna have little pinning, so out of the three males, Ares would be the best option imo, however I would probably rather go for a male with less pinning if i had the option.
Generally it’s about finding the strengths in the geckos phenotype, and then working towards bettering those. Like, Luna could potentially work well in a flame project, or a tiger-harlequin project, since she hasn’t got a lot of pattern or pinstriping. Both of those things are relatively rare nowadays, so it would be better to work towards projects incorporating those aspects, rather than moving away from them by pairing her to a gecko with higher pinstriping and pattern, which would likely just result in some babies that have mediocre pinning and patterning, of which there are already tons and tons on the market.
Hestia has that kind of fadey look to her pattern, so it would be fun to pair her to a similar gecko instead. Same with Ares and those rounded off breaks in his pattern.

I see! I was planning to pair Cyrene and Apollo together to see how the offspring will look. I’ll definitely try Aphrodite and Helios together to see what they produce as well. Your suggestion sounds interesting and in the future I’ll most likely follow it if I get more geckos!
I remember someone recommended pairing Apollo and Hestia together but I think that would just make a muddy looking colour

Yeah both have kind of muddy bases, and the pinstripe/no pinning would likely clash, I don’t think they’d be a good match. The only argument i can think of is if their pattern happens to be the pinned/non-pinned version of the same thing, but i highly doubt it

I agree. If I ever breed Hestia or Luna I’ll likely find new males for them
