Those bins are nice, but that is a great idea/plan!! I used to have some lizards and I would use uvb and heat lamps, even though I always secured them and never had any kind of issue- a accidental fire was always in the back of my head. I volunteered at a reptile rescue that had a fire that way! That is a quick, all in one place, easy to find and simple plan to have in place at all times!
As someone who lives in the Midwest and is often at risk of things like severe storms, it was one of the first things I wanted to have ready. Always trying to be as prepared as possible to minimize overall risks. The best part about the wheeled bins is the lids also have slots for tie-down straps, so you can keep things extra secure if need be.
I keep most of my ball pythons in a very similar style of storage tubs and absolutely love them! I can use overhead or under heating heating (or both) and lights, there’s plenty of room for hides, branches, hammocks and anything else I want to put in there, I can lift and move them easily and they stack on those industrial style kitchen storage racks.
I’ve also found you can use velcro to hold the lids so the snakes can’t push them open and out, but it’s easy to me to get in there. Once I’m finished decorating out my setup I’ll post pictures, because it’s been working really well for me
@jawramik stated it very good.
Playing off of that, humans live in many different types and size of housing. You can find 1 person to 20 plus in a single home. From a 1 bedroom to multi room homes. Some have almost nothing while others have packed places, and you have everything in between. Many different size single family homes to very small apartments to extremely large homes. You can have a family of 4 living in a car. All are living the best they can and surviving.
Yes. I understand. We can make choices where as our animals can not. But a vast majority of humans can not make this choice, for many reasons, but still can be happy and healthy in any living arrangements.
Again I know I am really stretching it, but it still applies.
It all comes down to the health of any living thing, not what they have or own.
We all need to remember,
Every living thing is different and can survive, be happy and healthy in just about any safe environment. Remember, animals are safer, live longer, so must be healthier, when in the care of us.
One last item
Two identical animals.
One in a small box with water.
One in the largest living space with everything you can think of.
Both can be happy or both can be miserable. It depends on the individual. Some have already stated this in different ways, just wanted to add it in a different manner.
@d_y_python That’s a very well thought out response and I think your human comparison is spot on. Actually the people who reside in spread out multiple floor mansions only live in one room at a time, while the rest of the castle remains unoccupied. The people living in small one room apartments and those living in cars make full use of their living space.
Finally those who reside in modest but affordable, comfortable ranch style homes have the best of both worlds. They can spread out a bit and enjoy their home without constantly having to worry about cleaning it or heating and cooling it. It is the perfect manageable domicile.
However as long as all these people are in good health, they can make the most of whatever they live in, because without the health of each individual, he or she will be miserable whether living in a shoe or a king’s castle……….
