I bought this climbing/ basking spot for my ball python the other day (its the purple thing in the photos), and I put it below my heat lamp, but it wasn’t below it enough that light wasn’t reaching the bottom of the enclosure, or the top of the rock. After I put it in, I noticed that my thermostat hadn’t been getting over 82 degrees, which I summed up to the fact that the probe is in a new shadow and that it also is probably around 82 on the ground. I can’t tell if this is an issue or just the thermostat having trouble reading. Would this effect my ball python at all or his heating?
Do you have one of the temp reading guns handy?
I would double check the temps on the purple addition. As long as the temps on it are less than 92 you should be fine. He’ll climb up there and warm up when he wants to and 82 is still a good ambient temp.
What you don’t want is that climbing spot to be too hot and risk a burn because he wants to warm up.
