So a few years ago we paired a Champagne YB het Albino to a Dark Sun (heteroallelic Dark Matter Albino), the offspring of this pairing produced a YB which would be either het Albino or het Dark Matter.
I sent the shed of this animal to RGI to test for Albino knowing that if it can back negative it would mean that the animal had to be het Dark Matter.
RGI shed test MM-BRWJ7, shed ID NBC
The only way to prove this out properly was to do it by breeding as there is no actual shed test for Dark Matter at present.
I paired the YB het Dark Matter to my BP Albino, the expected result from the clutch was to produce Dark Sun combos, YB, BP, BP YB and normal’s that would have to be het for Albino as the Dam was a visual albino and here are the results.
9 eggs
1 BP YB Dark Sun
4 Dark Sun pos YB
1 BP het Albino
2 BP YB het Albino
1 Normal het Albino
So we proved the male out to be het Dark Matter via breeding and by process of elimination from shed testing, The one thing I have noticed in this clutch is that I cant instantly pick out the Dark Sun YB animals, so i will be getting these shed tested for YB.
