I’d have named her Teapot, because she’s short and stout!
Jokes aside, she is such a stunning little animal! Can’t wait to see how she looks in another year or so.
Ahhhhhh. so you too have jumped onto the Bantam Bandwagon! Congratulations Elijah! Pics soon? ![]()

I love it!
Not typical. But I started her young and she bred perfectly three seasons straight. I have enough of her homozygous Bantam daughters and even a few hets that I don’t really need to keep breeding her. And IDing baby Bantams in a mixed clutch of homos and hets is challenging, so I’ll avoid it if possible from now on except assisting other breeders who are producing mixed clutches. ![]()
Teapot is a perfect name for a bantam!
It wouid have been great. She’s already been re-named. Her cheese-themed clutch name was Curd. Terrible. Chispa is Spanish for spark, and she’s a little Inferno. ![]()
I’m calling the names Teapot, Mrs Potts, and Chip for my first baby bantams
. Haha. Can you tell I have four kids and have seen that movie one too many times?
Not possible. I believe you on the four kids - right there with ya - but that movie is one of my favorites. ![]()
What movie are you talking about?
Disney “Beauty and the Beast. “
Oh! I know the movie but I don’t think I have ever seen it!
Mrs Potts is the mother teapot, and her son, Chip, is the cup (with a chip) that matches the teapot set. Very cute. The first Disney cartoon is my favorite of all the film versions, but I read the old fairy tales to my kids and I like the original story best of all.
WOW! Those photos are telling. Chispa is such a little runty turned chunky. I LOVE her colors and the bantam saddle squish going on. So fun!
Thanks Natalie.
One interesting thing is that baby expression level does NOT seem linked to parent expression level. These two have the same Bantam parents, after all (high expression x medium expression). And the most extreme one I’ve hatched came from the original het parents who have ZERO expression.
So interesting. I wonder what genetic markers play into the expression level, then. Genetics is fascinating once again.
