Clutch 2, I think? He’s one of the three from the lavender clutch.
Quite the gorgeous clutch, Olivia! Huge congratulations! I hope they all thrive for you!! Looking forward to seeing them after they shed. Congrats on Blynken’s full belly, too.
Eh, maybe, but maybe not. Of course the odds are long that you’d get no Sunkissed from a homo and a het, but they’re still only odds. (Please pardon me, but my “teacher hat” has appeared on my head. ) Sometimes we get very lucky. For me, Odin’s appearance was a 1% possibility. He’s a Caramel Ghost Stripe from a pair of Caramels het Amel, Anery, Hypo, Stripe. I was thrilled when he pipped in his parents’ first clutch! Sometimes we don’t get what odds predict. Last season, I expected at least some of Artephius and Princess Irene’s babies to be some form of Amel, and some Stripes since both parents are 100% het for those traits. None of their 15 babies had either trait, which is something like a 0.56% probability. All of which to say, your female may still be het Sunkissed.
Yeah, it’s not impossible that the mom is not het sunkissed. But each egg (18) had a 50% chance of being visually sunkissed. Not hitting sunkissed 18 times in a row is like .0003% chance or something similarly minute. I’m still extremely pleased with this clutch since it proved out both of the dad’s pos hets and one of the mom’s. And, the last two eggs haven’t actually emerged yet, so I could still be surprised by a sunkissed. I’m just not thinking it’s likely at this point!
And that’s awesome that you were able to hit those crazy odds! One of the things I love about breeding corns!
And these last two babies mark the end of hatching season this year for me!
Cudgel came from a tiny egg and is on the small side, 5.5 grams, but bigger than I was expecting from that egg!
Saber is bigger and I think s/he is just a straight amel. It’s a different look than all the other light-eyed ones that have hatched. I’m so curious to see what they all look like after their sheds!
Me too! Really a wonderful way to wrap up hatching season 2023. Congrats once again!
Congratulations @solarserpents Olivia! I am looking forward to seeing everybody’s after first shed photos!
Me too! This thread is going to get even longer.
Oh yeah! We might need a spool! Lol!
I love the weapon names!
And also little Radish! This one is still popping female, but my cinders in this clutch should all be male. Will be trying again as they gain a few grams.
Okay, I didn’t think I’d be tempted to keep any of the normal/Miami babies, but dang this one is so nice! I might need to hold her back. Cassava.
And little Ginger, sunkissed, has shed. I was hoping this one would be female so the name would be appropriate, but nope, this is Ginger the boy! What a cool sunkissed, though.
And fresh shed from Turnip, the little tail kinked sunkissed. They had zero issues getting the shed off. As long as they’re a good eater, I’ll probably sell them at half price as a pet only. Seeing as none of the other babies or the parents have kinks, it’s very unlikely to be genetic, but I can’t know for sure.
They’re soooo cute! I love something about each one. Rebel’s awesome headstamp, sleek striping. Shallot’s clean, decisive pattern. Burdock is a very cool Starter. Taro and Radish have nice saddles. Cassava’s bold saddles and lateral pattern are attractive. Ginger’s coloring is quite promising. Rutabaga is, well, gorgeous. Turnip has nautilus cookie and a ridiculously cute headstamp. And Jicama’s headstamp is adorable.
