Birthday Eggs! The best present!

Yeah, several of them haven’t eaten yet. I did start offering food earlier than I probably should have. So they’ll be getting a new feeding attempt on Tuesday.

Two more babies had their first meals tonight, Starburst and Smartie. I did boiled and washed pinkies for them and left them in deli cups, covered with a tea towel, in the dark for about an hour.

Congrats on more babies eating! Starburst is especially adorable to me.

Two more first meals down today. I like to give them at least several attempts with various tricks before resorting to lizard scenting, but these two have refused all previous attempts, so tonight they got lizard scented pinkies and it worked like a charm. Twizzler and Raisinet!

So just out of curiosity do you have a lizard :lizard:?

Err… not a live one! It’s a little anole I keep in my freezer for picky babies.

Hooray for more first meals! I am always so very thankful when they realize full is better than hungry. If I have anybody stubborn this year (likely, of course), I’m going to have to get some new gecko tails. I lost the couple still in there when our freezer quit a few months back.

Second shed for Tootsie! She’s an excellent eater, already 12 grams. I don’t have any single gene aneries in my collection, so I’m constantly surprised by the tremendous amount of melanin left in these anery sheds! Anyway, still not sure if she’s red factor or not. Maybe I’m seeing a tiny hint of pink in the neck area? Or might just be wishful thinking!

@solarserpents That shed is so cool and Tootse is so perfect! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

She’s a lovely girl! And yay for being an excellent eater, too! I’m interested in keeping an eye on their possible RF coloring, too.

A little progress tonight! This girl, Raisinet, refused many times before finally accepting a lizard scented pinkie. From there, she accepted a lightly lizard scented pinkie. And tonight she accepted her first unscented pinkie! Hooray!

BIG congrats there!! Congratulations to Raisinet and kudos to you, Olivia. I know I’ve said it before, but that’s one of the best feelings in the world.

Lol @solarserpents! I saw this post in the wee hours of this morning but I was half asleep ! Any hoo rah rah for Raisinet! But I didn’t know that pinks sometimes have to be lizard scented for baby corns? Interesting!

Great that Raisinet has a full belly! :+1::clap:

Yeah, I find that most baby corns who refuse pinkies really just want lizard. I think it’s actually a much more common food source for them in the wild than pinkie mice. Thankfully corns are typically not picky, so most will accept pinkies right off the bat, but after running through the easier tricks, lizard scent will usually get the really picky ones going.

Little Reese is turning into quite a nice eater. He initially wanted boiled and only ate overnight, but now he’s taken several no-trick meals. I love his fun head stamp! (Pic taken after eating tonight - he’s climbing up my arm, hoping he’ll find another pinkie up there.)

I agree. I try reheating, leaving covered, washing, braining, maybe boiling. The first thing I try actually scenting with is lizard. It usually works. It makes sense that baby corns would be more likely to catch a young lizard (or a lizard’s tail) than to successfully raid a nest of pinky mice with no mama around.

I’m glad Reese is eating well. It is very satisfying when the initially challenging ones become consistent, no-trick feeders. His head stamp is super cute.

So rhat makes so much sense @solarserpents! I never thought about it with corns. I mostly associated amphibians and lizards with hognose snakes.

Little Reese is a fine specimen of a beautiful little corn snake!

That’s my boy! Literally! :+1::blush:

Does that mean Reese is going to be a Hoosier?
