I should probably get some of the ones who have had two sheds out together so I can compare.
The next two clutches are due any day now. Just small clutches. These three are from Sparrow, my red factor amel. She has some hets and pos hets and was bred to a lavender motley with unknown hets. Eggs are starting to sweat a little and have that green pepper smell! The second clutch is a single good egg from a double clutch from Clover, the red factor snow who produced the aneries in this thread.
Until I had a clutch of corn snake eggs, I didn’t fully appreciate the excitement of a little sweat and the scent of bell peppers! Fingers crossed for healthy babies soon!
Here’s to more healthy babies pipping soon Olivia! All these eggs hatching around here almost makes me wish I was a breeder!
Nah! I’ll just enjoy the pictures! lol!
I do too! One more way corn snakes are fascinating to me. That’s a cute belly, all right.
Cookies and cream belly!
Perfect description!
This baby has been hit or miss with feeding. He’s taken a few meals for me but recently has refused several times in a row. Tonight he ate while sitting in a deli cup on top of the running washing machine. No idea why that works for some babies!
Now that is certainly a little bit odd! lol . Which baby is this one?
This one is Starburst.
Reminds me of trying to get Sneaky to eat, he similarly was hit or miss, and I simulated a car ride by jostling him in a shoebox. The things we do to get little ones to eat.
Ah yes, I had forgotten that trick! Thanks for the reminder.
I have packed them in a shipping box and them for rides while running errands (drive-through type; I wouldn’t leave them in a summertime car).
@solarserpents, is it the light or my screen or is Starburst looking a little different? Like maybe early RF different?
He is light! I was wondering that too. After he digests, I’m going to compare a few who have had their second sheds. A bunch of them are currently in blue.
I believe I can see it! I think @caryl is right! I’m not kidding!
Took a few comparison photos today in natural light. These ones have all had two sheds so far.
First up is Spree (with the long neck spot) and Licorice.
Spree and Licorice look nearly identical to me, in terms of color.
Next is Wrigley and Smartie. (Wrigley has more uniform spotting, Smartie is the one with the slightly more jagged light areas.) Wrigley does look slightly lighter, slightly more brown to me.
And unfortunately by the time I was bringing Tootsie out, the cloud cover left, so I moved into the shade, but the lighting is still a little different.
Hmmmmmm. I think I’m seeing a couple of possible differences. Wrigley and Tootsie especially seem to have something going on. And Starburst from yesterday’s pics. Maybe even Spree in the first pic with Spree & Licorice on your hand.
So here are the only two tesseras who have had their second shed, Starburst and Twix. Their body coloration is extremely similar, but… Starburst (on the right) has a noticeably browner/paler head. Both are male.
Starburst on top, Twix on bottom.
They are both beautiful babies! You can definitely notice the difference on Starburst.
Has my little Pee Wee Reese had his second shed yet or is he a lagger? Lol!
