I am only doing two or three clutches this year. Family health issues have resulted in paring down what I’m working on this season. Here are the happenings, as of now.
Allstar (RF Halo Strawberry Granite het Amel) and Annelie (Super RF or RF Strawberry Bloodred het Amel, Anery) are expecting. She’s very gravid and currently blue for her pre-lay shed. She’s also quite bulky. These two were among those I got from VMS as babies. Their 2024 offspring were all gorgeous. The ones I have and those I know about also have really good dispositions. The RF Strawberry Halo Avalanches are frankly stunning. The RF Strawberry Bloodreds are worthy of the name. The RF Strawberry Fire whom I kept has super saturated coloring. I don’t have one of the RF Strawberry Granites, sadly, but the pics of clutchmates I’ve seen are all lovely. Should have eggs soon, Lord willing.
The other pair who have successfully paired are Raiden (RF Strawberry Opal Masque het Anery, 50% ph Amel, Diffused, Stripe) and Narcissa (Strawberry Anery Het Lavender, ph Amel, Charcoal, Diffused). He is a 2024 BrightHope baby, she’s from Palmetto Girls. It’s the first pairing for both. Bless his heart, Raiden took a bit but he figured things out. They locked April 8th and 12th. Too soon to say how that went. Here’s the happy couple. They’re both actually more pink than this image. For those like me who have wished there was an adult morph with the coloring of a baby Opal, Raiden seems to have that nailed.
All four of these prospective parents are sweethearts. I might do one other pairing. There are about five I would like to do, but that just isn’t going to happen this season. That’s okay. Thanks for looking!
It must be so hard to choose when you have such a great collection, Caryl. These are some killer pairings, though! I can see why you chose them!
I would LOVE some pics of the strawberry halo avalanches. Did you keep a holdback from 2024? What happens to halo when it is diffused, I wonder? I don’t recall seeing that combo before.
Raiden and Narcissa have some super cool overlapping possible hets, too. I’d love to see a diffused strawberry opal to knock the odds out of the park for you on this limited year.
Hey dear lady! I’m so glad you see you back in the game this year! I know things have been rough for you last year and this year so I think you really need this smaller breeding project to pick up your spirits. I am most definitely looking forward to seeing these babies welcomed into the world!
Thanks for the good wishes, everyone. Much appreciated. You know how this stuff goes, might get oodles of noodles, might not.
Actually, I don’t recall seeing that combo either. These may be the only ones so far. They’re gorgeous. There were a male and female Strawberry Avalanche in the 2024 clutch and I kept both. They showed RF rapidly. I didn’t realize they were Halo until they’d grown a bit. It doesn’t show on Allstar of course, and I didn’t know he was carrying it until his Amel morph babies from different dams showed Halo. I suppose Annelie might be Halo also, as they both came from VMS. Other VMS Strawberries I bought turned out to have Halo.
Here they are. It’s hard to capture their colors but these are pretty accurate (except that they’re prettier in person, lol). I know they look fake but they just do. You can see my hand for comparison in some of the pics. Oh and no, they don’t live together. I just wanted a couple pics with the two of them. Edit to add: Tristan is male, Frel is female. They’re named for strawberry cultivars.
Aww, Noodle’s parents are going to be parents again!
As a lucky purchaser of one of your 2024 RF strawberry granites, I can personally attest to their fantastic dispositions and beauty! Noodle hands down has the best disposition of my crew and is my personal favorite (although, I don’t want the others to know so keep we’ll keep that a secret!).
Hi Noodle!!! You’re looking great! Hello to you too, Heather! Your handsome boy looks so much like his proud papa. I am delighted to hear that he’s such a good boy. I told him that was what was expected of him. Glad he listened!
Thanks for the good wishes. Hopefully Noodle will be a big brother to more wonderful babies like him this summer.
My goodness. Tristan and Frel are amazing! You’ll have to tell us about where their names come from. And you always have such good stories about names.
Noodle looks quite lovely as well! Apparently those two are a great pair.
Thanks. They’re named for strawberry cultivars. The Tristan variety produces hot pink blossoms, so he is definitely living up to that. Frel produces bright rose-pink blooms, so she’s nailed her namesake, too
Hi, Caryl! Thank you - I am quite smitten with this guy. And yes, he did listen to your directions. Sometimes I feel a bit guilty that he’s just my buddy as he truly could have been an education animal. He’s just so calm and inquisitive! Either way, I’m thankful to have him.
Any time you have a friend over and you show Noodle off, you’re using him as an education animal. Based on my experience, corns have been PERFECT ambassadors for many people who think they’re terrified of snakes. They’ve won many hearts over, many spouses over, and many parents over…so put Noodle to work ASAP!
Although there is nothing wrong with enjoying his sweet personality all by yourself, either. @Caryl produces beautiful corns. My only sadness is that I don’t have one (yet).
Well in that case, Noodle has been put to work several times. I can’t resist bringing him out when we have company. And he often comes out during my kids’ sleepovers, so I guess I’m working on the next generation of reptile people too!
Yes, she certainly does! When the opportunity comes up to acquire one from her, go for it. You won’t regret it!
Can’t wait to see what you end up with this year! I’m really living vicariously through everyone else since I won’t have any myself. All the best to your expectant mamas.
I absolutely love this!! It just doesn’t get any better than knowing that my baby (and their always at least partly “my babies” in my heart) are so loved. Promoting interaction with new people, and building the future is really terrific in every possible way.
Annelie pooped today and gave me a “go away” look when I peeked into her nest box. I think she’ll shed by tomorrow. Then the countdown really commences.
