They’re continuing to pip at a pretty good clip. I’ve seen 8 noses. That leaves 6 who need to get with the pipping program. So far I’m seeing Strawberry, Strawberry Lavender, Strawberry Moonstone and Strawberry Anery. Looks like some at least will be Red Factor too, though that’s really hard to confirm at this point. I don’t yet see any who are homozygous Amel. At least, I don’t think so. There’s one who has me puzzling. Narcissa is ph Amel, and I was hoping she’d prove that with this pairing. She still might, or might not prove out even if she actually is. (I’ve had that happen. One proved 3 hets with a second clutch after NOT proving a single one with a first clutch of 18 babies.) Anyway, I love what I’m seeing so far! Here’s a sample. If you look closely, you can see the ruby pupils on some, even through the eggy fluid. How cool is that?
Caryl I love all your noses. You get the best photos of them all peeking out into the world. How do they not get nervous and dash back in their eggs? I love seeing them. So, so cute.

Thanks, everybody! It’s been an insanely busy day here. Started with the dogs barking like mad around 3 AM. Still not sure why but I didn’t get back to sleep. Had all kinds of stuff going on today, just about to crash. BUT - I did want to pop in briefly and say that 11 of these are out and set up. Pretty much hitting the expected Mendelian morph ratios, but way off on sex ratio. So far this clutch includes 8 boys! Here’s are a couple of pics. I’ll do better tomorrow. I meant to do better with getting stuff posted today but it’s been kinda of a crazy day. Thirteen babies are all out, all healthy. It did turn out that I had failed to mentally subtract one of the eggs which didn’t ever develop veins. I kept mentally thinking there were 14 coming when it was thirteen. There are 8 males, 5 females. Three are Strawberries, all girls. Four Strawberry Aneries, two male and two female. Certainly two male Strawberry Lavenders and two male Strawberry Moonstones. I think three are three each of the latter two morphs but I’m not certain. Not going to call those until after they’ve shed. Maybe twice, lol.
So, so stunning. I guess the amel didn’t prove out, but after 18-1 experience it’s never too late to hope!
Thanks! And yeah, I’m not going to totally rule out the ph Amel based on 13. Looks like two more good possibles from the small second clutch. Maybe they will prove the Amel, maybe not. At least I know that all of these are absolutely het Amel.

Quick update just to say that I offered the first meal to Raiden and Narcissa’s babies yesterday afternoon. All but one were as calm and easy to handle as anyone could ask. And (drum roll) they all ate!! Every single one!! I know a parent isn’t supposed to have favorites, but this snake “parent” is certainly extra delighted with this clutch in an overall, broad-brush sort of fashion. The light went before I got decent pictures of everybody, but here are some of the beautifully full bellies.

Thanks!! It is indeed a relief. I’m going out of town for a few days and this is one less thing to worry about, lol. I have been very blessed so far this year.
The three eggs from that almost-missed-her pairing of Galahad and Purple Wonder are at Day 58. Usually I am anxiously wishing that eggs will hurry and pip. I’m actually hoping these hold off! Dan will be here so it’s not like they’re unattended. Not that that really matters, usually. But I don’t want to miss their appearance!
Yes! I hope they hold off for you! I was so lucky that my travel timing was perfect in that way. I can’t believe I got everybody out and settled in bins before I had to leave. They had a sitter while I was gone to check waters and everything, but it was nice to be able to hold off that first feed.
How is the tree clean up? All done?
Gosh, no. I’m thinking that huge trunk is just going to lie there. At least it’s too big to blow around in a typical storm. There branches which fell into our yard are cleaned up. The smaller stuff in the neighbor’s side is cleaned up, too. The trunk is too big for a normal chain saw or typical homeowner’s equipment to handle. The neighbor is just leaving it in their yard. Not sure about the long term plan but currently my best hope is that the termites break it down fast.
Yikes. Yard ornament? Are you worried about it impacting the sale of your home? Or is that being pushed back again?
I don’t know about a yard ornament, lol. It’s the neighbor’s tree and the trunk fell in their yard. If it were in our yard, it would be gone. But it’s not.
I have currently given up on the move. Too many complications with family health, sadly. If that were to shift and we were listing the house next week, that trunk might be a problem but as things stand, it’s not a concern that way. Sadly.
Neighbor yard ornaments are the worst since you have no control. My mom’s house sold for $60k under other comparable houses solely because of the two flanking neighbors and their “yard ornaments.” Glad it’s not impacting you presently. Best wishes coming your way for ongoing health challenges. Moving is no joke and takes a toll, even on the strongest. Glad you’re able to cut one major stressor from your life, even if it’s not ideal.
Edit to add: this sounds NOT comforting at all when I thought about it later. Haha sometimes I laugh at how poorly I communicate something in my head. We actually still have really good relationships with the families near my parents’ old house and continue to be friends regardless of the state of their yard (and its impact on their sale). Everyone has good reasons, usually, for their style of yard maintenance, and we still love them, anyway. That said, I am glad the tree won’t affect the sale of your home at present. And I’m glad it’s a stressor you don’t have to deal with directly yourself. Whew!
