I was hoping this itch would subside with time and experience! I guess I’ll just always have to know the urge will live on with every new clutch.
Mochi sounds like a good cat! I’m so excited to see what Jubilee and Peredur produce. You’re getting some great clutches, @caryl! Congratulations!
Excellent!!
Jubilee is really beautiful! (Also that’s my dog’s name, so I might be partial to her!)
Mochi is wonderful. She’s located a couple of escapees for me. She sort of goes “on point” staring at them under dressers or by a closet door or whatever. Then she yowls for me. She’s otherwise usually wherever I am. Of course, I’m careful with snakes around her but she’s never tried to hurt one. Here is my buddy Mochi now, in her spot with a window view beside the table in the snake room. And because that’s way washed out, a better one of her sweet face .
Sorry, @snakes_of_shadowlake , the itch never goes away! Every season brings new excitement. When it doesn’t, I’m done.
Thanks. Now I think we all need to see your Jubilee, Olivia!
Jubilee ended up with 18 eggs, but only 6 look potentially good. I don’t actually see anything much regarding veins. Don’t know if that’s because she laid only 33 days after the last lock or what. Dean and Olivia, I might need your Sunkissed-experienced eyes to suss out these babies. Mama has a bunch of phets and Dad’s are unknown.
I suppose along with the jittery excitement, there’s also massive disappointment. So sorry about all those slug-looking ones. Bummer!
It’s disappointing, yes, but I’m very happy with 6 good eggs here. I always hate for the female’s sake to have a bunch of slugs. So much work for no result. At least she should recover well. She ate a small fuzzy, so she feeling as well as can be expected.
Both parents were first-timers. Chances are she’ll do just fine in the good-egg-production department with future pairings.
Yeah, my two cats would definitely eat the snake rather than help me find it! That’s impressive! Go Mochi!
Someone on Facebook (Eric Westmoreland, I think?) said he never had to watch for locks because his little terrier would always let him know whenever one was happening. Animals are so intelligent in unexpected, crazy ways, aren’t they?
Amen to that!
Awwwww. What a sweet sweet face! Sounds like Miss Mochi is part guard cat!
I had a mini poodle named Moki that lived to be 18 years old.
Mochi is atypical compared to my other cats, that’s for sure. I don’t let Baby in the room when I’m working with hatchlings who might get out of my hands. Hooray for unusual animals!!
Amen again!
Awww. What a sweet baby. It’s such a blessing when they are in our lives for so long. My Mochi is 12.
We were here third home. She was sorely neglected in her first two. She took a piece of my heart when I had to make the decision……
I’ll definitely be happy to help identify any sunkissed!
And here’s my Jubilee, getting chomped on by the cat.
So sweet! Animal lovers to the core. I love it.
That’s the very most precious picture! Those two are a match made in heaven! How sweet!
Oh my goodness, what a precious pair! That’s such a sweet image. Your Jubilee clearly has a heart of gold.
I love it when dogs and cats are buddies. We have a devoted couple here, Baby and Zelda.
Things are slithering along here. Twist had prelay shed a couple days ago, followed by a small meal. She seems quite full of eggs. Should know soon enough, I guess. I expected Purple Wonder to have a prelay shed any minute. Truffles had a post-lay shed and a meal. All of that is good news.
I did have to remove four definitely bad eggs from Truffles’s clutch, along with the one which had been iffy to begin with. Most of het clutch has good vein development. These not only had no veins, they were developing moisture and more than a touch of mold. So Bragi and Truffles have 17 good-looking eggs now.
Linette’s eggs all look good, nice veins beginning to show.
I’m not actually sure about Jubilee’s eggs. They do have what potentially might be early veins becoming visible. Since they were laid only 33 days after mating, that puts them a bit earlier in development so mayyyybeeee they’re fertile. Time will tell. Here’s an egg picture for “tax.”
So happy to hear all the good news! Crossing my fingers for Jubilee’s early clutch!
