Well, I’m sorry to say that no more eggs have yet appeared. I got Twist out of the nest box and did some hand-over-hand with her. I feel one lump perhaps 2" above her vent and another lump way higher. Not sure if that means two remaining eggs or more. She’s back in her enclosure now. If she hasn’t made progress by this evening she’ll be getting a swim.

Twist seems to be settling down. She relaxed her muscles a bit more and let me palpate her a little better and I still feel lump, but now I’m only feeling one area that feels bulgy. I don’t know if that means one bulge has moved to join the other bulge, or if at least one bulge was only her tensing her muscles and maybe there’s not a problem. She’s a big girl and her eggs were small and many. I don’t visually see anything from any angle. She looks like a pretty normal snake. 
I marked her with a sharpie (and her pics with yellow) where I’m feeling the bulge and she had a drink and swim. She’s back in her nest box. I guess we’ll see.

Considering how many she was filled with, she’s probably exhausted. Hopefully rest and time will resolve everything.

I know you will give her all the TLC she needs to finish delivering her eggs. She is certainly a pretty momma! She has done her job.

Thanks for the moral support. Hopefully tincture of time and TLC will resolve things with Twist. I don’t really trust my hands right now on evaluation. My joints are flared up pretty badly. If she were thinner it would be easier to see visually, but maybe harder for her. She’s always been a big, muscular girl.
As for the remaining mother to be here, Purple Wonder is getting a bit temperamental. She’s always had a gentle disposition. This evening when I opened her nest box to check on her, she shoved a coil at me. Twice. 
Won’t be long now.

Twist is more relaxed today. I’m still feeling a bulge in the same place. She accepted a small meal. Guess we’ll see if that helps her to move her bulge along.
Purple Wonder is still in waiting.

Nature is so fascinating! Two little cornletts doing swimming laps in their egg yolks until the yolks are gone and the cornletts pip and stick their heads out to greet the world, or Caryl, whichever may be first!

Thanks for the happy thoughts and the prayers. I’m not bothering Twist while she’s digesting but I check on her. She’s just hanging out.
Thought Purple Wonder might be ready last night but a peek into her nest box this morning revealed only herself. Sigh. Ah well, won’t be long.

Oh my gosh, the suspense is killing me!! Dan says that Purple Wonder has eggs! I don’t know anything more than that. I’m in Oklahoma for my granddaughter’s dance recital. I really hoped she would lay yesterday before I left. Dan was hoping so as well, but I have faith. It’s not the first time he’s been on egg duty.

It does! Annelie and Big Smile both laid their first clutches when Dan was there and I was away. That was Arkansas, after the birth of different granddaughter. Dan was discussed about it but he did just fine as a snake doula.

Yeah, but a snake doula–no matter how good–needs to give a girl more information! Like, did she get ALL the eggs out? How many are there? Any slugs? I can see why you’re dying of suspense!
