CMSReptiles possible Carbon Clown breeding thread

But it’s nice to send babies to people you can harass later for photo updates.

I’ll be honest I had no clue MorphMarket updated their breeding tracking so I just spent a bit over an hour trying to update things in that reguard…

But now the breeding tracker has a counter for how many days in/days left of incubation (super useful so now I don’t have to manually count on my phone calendar lmao ) and Mango’s clutch has 30 days left!

There has not been any further development in the 2 questionable eggs, and they’ve begun to sweat and grow mold unfortunately :frowning:

So I may just end up taking them out and seeing how far development went with them… and seeing what might’ve happened to the one weird “blob” egg. I’ll post blurred photos of that once I make the decision to discontinue incubation for them.

Ok so I went ahead and pulled the eggs and I’m glad I did… because oh boy the weird blob egg stunk up a storm the moment I started cutting.

I’ll start with the more mild egg, the “?” egg.

This was the only sign that something was alive at some point and it was exactly where that tiny red ring was at the bottom of the egg when I had candled it in the past. The albumen was very cloudy white and had the texture of thin cottage cheese, interestingly there was no distinct odor…

Now onto the “weird blob egg”… viewer discretion advised…

As noted the smell was horrendous the moment the egg was cut. And I think there were triplets… there were 3 seperate spots at the inside lining of the shell that contained vein rings, with the 3rd being a prominently developed fetus (is that the right term in this situation??) with clear eyes, body and organs still external. The albumen texture was much thicker than the first egg and yellowish, and halfway up it turned into a watery dark brown liquid.

Thankfully the other 7 eggs are still doing great and continuing to progress.

Here’s to hoping that they continue to do so.

I’ve never heard of snakes having triplets, it’s too bad that they didn’t survive.

Oh Christina that’s a bummer! I’m so sorry they didn’t make it! I wonder how difficult it would have been to keep them alive if they had hatched…..

I couldn’t imagine… its unfortunate but I’ll say that nature has its own ways of kindness, I’m glad these babies won’t have to suffer whatever ailed them.

Here’s this week’s updates (day 38):

Thankfully nothing else has happened with the eggs, they all look fine.

Heres a quick pic of them while I was letting some fresh air into their container. They’re beginning to dent in a bit
