I was actually outside walking on my yard and I saw a female rainbow agama sitting on the grass. Of course you know I’m gonna try to catch it lol . Well, when I actually approached her, she didn’t move. So I sat there and about 20 minutes later, she moved and ran away really fast. I walked over to where she was sitting, and there was a cluster of eggs inside a hole.
So guess who’s gonna try to hatch some rainbow agama babies ? This guy!
Upon some quick research, I found out that you incubate them at 85° for three months. So we will see if we get some babies!
Oh, I should add. I am not releasing any of these. They’re invasive in my home state so it’s completely fine for you to remove them from the outside. Most people actually kill these lizards on site. But I know two or three people that would actually like to own one of them
I am trying to. There is not a lot of info on how hot to go for males. So I am going to incubate at 86* and hope that makes better odds. If anyone knows or has an opinion on how hot, I would take it.
that is a good point. I was kind of just thinking about how having both captive born males and females would help make captive breeding projects easier.
