My husband was in Vietnam for about 6 months. He was critically injured in a blast of explosives that they were transporting. He saw a good friend of his just blown away.
God Bless ALL those who have served, are serving and will some day serve.

Oh my goodness! Great picture! Thank you so very much for your service!
All the best and stay safe!
11 BANG BANG baby! I was infantry as well.
Nice loved it! 10mtn division here Ft. Polk Louisiana.
It was a love hate relationship because I was a SAW gunner for the first two years then became a team leader. Was stationed at Fort Hood Texas. The crappiest post on earth
I was 2/3 cav.
Yea i bet. And Ft polk is pretty bad too. I would have wanted to stay at ft benning over that base.
I know it is. I went there for a JRTC rotation and it was the most miserable time of my life. Pretend laser tag fighting against some high speed unit called Jeronimo.
Yes sir exactly the lovely 509th infantry guys.
Ya they don’t like to play fair lol
@guenther1288 God bless you sir and THANK YOU for your service!
I enlisted in the army in 2007 but I did reserves first because I was 17. My MOS was 12 whiskey which is carpentry and masonry specialist . Did the whole split ops and went to Ft Benning Georgia for basic training, AIT was in Gulfport Mississippi which is a seabee base. Lobster for chow almost every week was fantastic there! I was sent to the 336 engineer company in Weirton Wv and loved it there. I later switched to active duty as Cavalry Scout and loved every minute of it but it definitely was a challenge from being reserved for too long. I was sent to 3-66th AR at Fort Riley Kansas in 2015 when I went active army. I got put due to a medical discharge. I regret getting out but got custody of my son a year later. On one hand im glad I got out but another I miss the brotherhood. I never deployed unfortunately within the 8 years of being in the Army and got into breeding to keep me busy, too much of downtime inside my head isn’t a good thing
My army buddy went active a got stationed at Fort Polk, he was 88M. After I think 2-3 yrs he got stationed in Alaska
Wow that’s a history! God bless you for the years you put into it. This world is swirling. I am so glad you have gotten to spend time with your son. to you always……
