First clutch of 2021

The others are in shed so I’m hoping to get more pics soon :crossed_fingers:

Black Pewter is so shy! His the first to actually curl up in a ball Wheni hold him :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: but he did also strike at me last week when I was cleaning his home but I had just been cleaning out the mice so he probably thought I was food despite me cleaning my hands in-between 🤷

Unfortunately means the baby Black Pewter is likely to be leaving :pensive:

Was hoping to sex the little ones today but little man brought home a virus from nursery so won’t be this weekend 🤦

On the positive side, we have confirmed pairings for next year :relaxed:

Okay, so I’ve started sexing the snakes.

I know how to do it safely, but OMG how do I know which is male and which is female? I’ve watched so many YouTube videos and I’m still stuck.

Now I know the males have sticking up bits (hemipenes), but some of them were questionable! So now I’m second guessing myself.
Do males also have 2 red dots?

Any help would be great!

I can’t really help with sexing. But may the odds be in your favor. :crossed_fingers:

I’ll just be over here waiting for pictures!

I did it on my own but I will get hubby to take pictures next time as I didn’t get to them all anyway

Here’s a spider that will be going up for sale eventually

I believe those are the hemipenes. They will not be as obvious as a bigger and more mature male because they are still growing.

Excellent, then I am mostly sure :+1:

Phew

Still a few more to check though, so I might double check

Thank you :+1:

After looking at this fella a few times, I don’t think he is a bumblebee after all, I think he is a fire spider.
Let me know your thoughts

Last pic is before first shed and is the bottom left
