Freshly Shed Thread!

Crona, my 2016 anery motley who was proven again this year. Now that he’s 10 years, he finally seems to be past all the nippiness. Lol I have been able to pick him up without any theatrics in awhile, and no out of the blue snaps either. Since he didn’t prove het Kahl, I am not sure where else to use him. He’s a nice quality motley, so perhaps he’ll go to one of my aneries or hets at some point, if everything lines up for that.

Evening shot (I feel he looks better in the midday pics):

Adrianna, jungle het anery. She’s currently holding the spot for my biggest 2022. She should be on larges by fall at this rate, and hopefully start filling out. Atm, all growth is going to length.

Rize, RR pastel poss het VPI snow. With this shed she’s really starting to ramp up her color. :eyes: I hope her red head shows up for you all once I post this reply! Because it’s subtle enough on my phone as it is, but still better than I was thinking it was going to be looking at the previews on the camera! She’s one of my slowest growing ‘22’s, she gets thicker before she gets longer. Slimming out a bit now, though so hopefully a growth spurt is coming. :crossed_fingers:

Evening shot:

Gemma, hypo het anery. I wasn’t able to get any good midday pics of her, so here are some evening pics that managed to hold onto some color.

Need to name him still, but decided to keep this guy instead of his normal brother. After seeing how the normal male I am caring for his owner turned out, he wasn’t the quality I would have liked. And this hypo boy is better too. Triple het Kahl moonglow.

Evening shots on a different day:

Jedi, sugar pastel. Right now he has no place but maybe once I have a fleet of mature females I can find a use for him. Not sure how he would compliment anery, but I have several anery or het females lined up. I unfortunately don’t have any available albino females to pair him to, that he might do better with.

Doma, Ferrari x RR jungle poss het VPI. He’s lost some weight for some reason. I dropped him from large to small mice as they seemed to be a tad big for him, but it’s only been one meal…I went ahead and bumped him back up, though, and already looks a little plumper now. Fired down in these pics, but still can see what a gorgeous boy he is.

Evening shot:

Midday shot:

Baby Spice, hypo het Kahl snow. Not the best pics, but I was running out of time before the first of the rain storms swept in. Had just enough time to get her and her hypo siblings for a quick shoot, put them up and bring the dogs in. So colors are darker than I would have liked too. She’s normally my spiciest snake but she’s slowly coming around, the most she did was sit stiffly watching me distrustfully. Lol No swings at me that day.

Dear me, you have quite the collection if these are all of the recently shed ones!

All in all, I am a simple man who knows what I like, and your motley boy Crona has to be my favorite out of the lineup. I am an absolute sucker for a good motley, bonus points for the anery. Hopefully you can find him a nice girlfriend or two in the future!

And I’m still missing one from that set! With a few more currently blue as well…but I think I’ve posted most everyone so far. River (the adult retic) is the hardest to get, but hopefully when the rain stops and I can finally cut the grass I can take her out. By then, she won’t be “freshly” shed though. :joy: I probably will have to wait for her next cycle to post here.

And thanks! I really do love him, too. I love the laddertail pattern on motleys, he seems to have both and has produced both striped and ladder tails in his babies. Hopefully next year he’ll be a grandfather. haha His current litter has finally shed, and once I have a meal or two in them I’ll need to take them out for their first pics and post in their thread.

Makes me regret putting in the “freshly” for the title, maybe “Recently Shed Thread” would have been better? :joy:

I look forward to seeing his 2026 babies! It has to feel surreal that his babies are ready to have babies soon, here I am just (hopefully) working on my first clutch of ball pythons. I can only imagine how rewarding that’ll be!

By then she’ll have been over a month out of shed and close to a new one anyways. haha It’s been over 2 weeks already, and another 10 straight days on the forecast. The grass is sooo bad rn.

Yup, his older litter is already just over 3 years old. They have the age, I just don’t know about the size or willingness yet. The 26 babies are about 10 grams heavier on average than they were, so maybe they’ll grow faster.

Exciting! Congrats on your first clutch! Definitely a big milestone, and the most exciting. I cried when I had my first litter in 2022, it was the most beautiful thing. Idr, did you already have the clutch laid and are waiting for them to hatch?

Aaaah, next time for sure then, I’ll never say no to a freshly shed retic!

Nothing wrong with taking your (or their) time! In fact, evidence seems to point to that ending with more favorable outcomes it seems lol.

SUPER excited, I’m not sure what I’ll do if/when they hatch, but I sure do hope I get to find out! No clutch laid yet, but I’m pretty sure both females that bred this season have had their prelays over the last two weeks, so it’s just a waiting game til mid to late June! Gonna look like a complete goober if I’m wrong though and both just decided to refuse food for the last two months and shed around now for no reason…

Honorary picture of my garg!

When I was grabbing snake supplies the store near me had a full grown female housie, it wasn’t a regular cape house, and not a fuliginosis either, it was either a lineatus house or a ugandan green! They’ve been having trouble finding a mate for her, so they told me they could potentially figure something out where I get her!

Ohhh I am jealous and delighted for you! A lineatus or a green is a rare find just at random.

I was definitely surprised to see her little head pop out of the enclosure! (I had a chance to handle her and now I understand why people LOVE housies! They feel so smooth and almost velvety!)

Oh yeah, the mom to the 23 and 26 babies was 6 years old when I paired her for the first time, and almost 7 once they dropped. 5.5’, 2800 grams and had 17 babies, 3 slugs. She bounced back quickly.

I have definitely been there before. Lol I never call my animals pregnant/gravid until it’s undeniable.

@gottobehoggies I feel that close up must be the general vibe of having a gecko. :joy::joy: Idk if it’s the same feel as the housies, but I remember my BRBs being velvety in a way that made them almost vibrate.

It really is, I struggled to keep him in place while taking this picture… If you want a photogenic gecko stick with Leos, as soon as they’re out they just start posing!

New girl Anri decided to bless me and christen her new home with a fresh shed!

Per the usual, my phone camera can’t quite capture the pink that’s especially on her head, but she looks beautiful regardless!

I suspected this little dude was gonna shed after he refused to eat over the weekend! Mystery boy Sundae looking purdy :nail_care:

I say mystery in a loose sense - he was sold to me as a super banana mojave, and though the banana is obvious, we’re a bit dubious on the “super” as well as the mojave. Both combos generally eliminate spotting/freckles, and in his sale post pictures there were none, however when I got him last fall I noticed some developing. The breeder is a decently sized one, and even after I voiced my concerns they stood by their ID. Parents were a banana mojave leopard to a banana butter, and it seems like towards the last third of his body his pattern has an interesting paradox spot that gets more busy and may be leopard influence. He’s growing quite nicely, however we have yet to do a shed test. I guess time will tell, and maybe I can send this shed in to get a better idea of what he has going on genetically!

I would be very surprised if he tested negative for leopard

Me too, but we’ll be finding out! Just ordered an RGI test for banana (to see if super), mojave, butter, and leopard!

Oh wow he’s a gorgeous boy! Those subtle pastels are to die for. How old is he?

He’s a 2024 with exact date unknown, but as far as his genetics go there’s no pastel in him!
