This is just a place to share any random reptile related stories you want. I’ll start. I once went to a zoo, and the keepers there started asking for my advice on reptile genetics
I recently moved, and within the first month in my new middle school, I had made over $100 selling Dairy Cow isopods to my peers and TEACHERS. It is all about how you sell it…
Don’t worry, I educated them thoroughly first.
I love this!
Yep, this conversation is a great idea!
Thanks! I spend most of my free time brainstorming fun topics like this, so it’s good to see it pay off lol
Thank you so much! And thank you for your story!
Yep! Things like educating zookeepers about genetics of their animals and selling animals to your friends makes you feel pretty good about yourself
I wish I could sell to my friends, but all the friends I got that keep reptiles really only keep ball pythons, and I breed hognoses, so it’s tough selling a hognose to a ball python guy.
I see. Those ball python guys never wanting to keep the best snake that ever existed…
*No offence to the ball python guys out there
Exactly! Maybe one day I’ll convince them them to give hognoses a shot.
I recently had the most vivid dream that my sand boa escaped from her enclosure. It was one of those weird dreams where I was watching it happen but was frozen and couldn’t do anything to stop it. In the dream, the mesh lid on her tank was totally different from what it is in reality, and the mesh was sort of loosely stapled to a plastic frame, and she was able to pry one of the staples loose with her nose and then wriggle through the hole that created. But it was so vivid that I awoke in a total panic and rushed over to her tank, only to find her peacefully curled up under her warm hide. Thankfully she wasn’t burrowed, otherwise I probably would have been frantically digging around in her substrate to find her and reassure myself that she was indeed still safely contained.
@jawramik this same thing has happened to me multiple times! Glad I am not starting to lose it. Only thing was that it was my leopard gecko and he likes to ‘burrow’ under his decor. He doesn’t dig in the substrate, just make it extremely hard to spot him inside his forest of Aloe plants or dug a hole under his cork bark tube instead of in it.
That was stressful.
In the dream, his enclosure was set up differently though. It would actually be pretty interesting to figure out what in your brain alters that to work out for your dream.
Similar thing for me as well. I had a dream that I had just produced some super high end hognoses, include a world’s first super conda super arctic sunburst, and someone came and opened the baby rack and everything escaped. I woke up in a panic even though I don’t even own those animals or have a baby rack
Oh, so did I! They only had one animal there though…
It was a shih tzu!
Sorry I couldn’t help myself
That’s amazing
Don’t apologize!
The very first time I held a Superdwarf Reticulated Python… She peed on me. This is not a little trickle thing- this is a full cup of very smelly liquid kind of thing.
And I still love superdwarf retics.
The first time I held a boa, it was like how most people look when “holding” +20 retics. So much snake, not enough person lol .
Last night I had a crested gecko egg explode egg goo in my face and hatch. I wrote a bit more about it here:
