Thank you! Very sorry for being mixed up about food strikes and brumation being different, in my head they were different types of ‘off feeding’ but I can see that’s not the case

No worries! I’m talking about a first snake here, so I for sure consider the price and pros/cons of feeders part of that, I appreciate your input!

Two things
- when it comes to picking a type that you want to start with, pick what you really want and will enjoy having, what you have room for and what you can handle and afford long term. No one animal is really a starter one for everyone. Every animal is different and ever keeper is different. What works for one might not work for another. Go with your heart and likes, your space and what your wallet can afford to keep healthy.
- as far as balls and eating problems, (and this is my experience and observations) I really believe this comes down to how people think to feed, what is right and what is wrong. I always fed weekly, always had them going off eating. Then I switched to every other week, (and others have done the same) and we seen a steady eating response. I had them skip meals all the time, now I have 1 that skips a meal every so often, nothing to worry about and no problem eating the following meal.
In the past and most people even today, still believe you have to feed them weekly and dealing with them not eaten is the normal. But most of them never try changing their eating patterns. They just deal with it, say they are problem eaters.
I believe you have to let the animal tell you how it want to eat and once you know this pattern, stick with it. No different then you wanting to skip a meal when it is really hot out or wanting to eat more on a cold day. Snakes are no different then us and other animals, balls are not excluded from this.
