No reptiles… Yet

This fall I will have 1 baby albino hognose, which will be my first ever reptile, and I guarantee it won’t be the last.

I always love when I’m able to move up my answer on the poll. Hopefully this weekend I’ll get another to bring my total to 11.
So far I have:
3.3 leopard geckos
1.2.1 crested geckos (likely 2.2)

I need four more to move to the next section
Maybe in a little while

I mostly have leopard geckos (20-something at the moment and hopefully more at some point), but I also have one very tiny & feisty fat-tailed gecko.

After I move in September, I plan to add a cave gecko, possibly one more fat-tail, 1-3 arboreal geckos (cresties, gargoyles, chahouas, satanic leaf-tails are all being considered), at least one snake, and possibly others. In a dream world I’d love to adopt an older, smaller terrestrial chelonian and a Uromastyx or beardie.

I don’t have any amphibians right now, but I adore axolotls & hope to keep them one day again, and maybe a terrestrial salamander. I do hope to set up a bioactive enclosure with isopods and springtails soon as well, and to keep jumping spiders and millipedes.

Any idea of what kind?

I have a bunch of ideas but haven’t made many decisions yet. I have a condition called CRPS in my hands, so that will put a hard limit on the weight spectrum. I’ll need to take the time to weigh stuff, then carry it around for various amounts of time and see how well I do. From there I’ll have a better idea of the best possibilities.

When I get more serious with my preparations (and have had a little more time to let my family adjust to the idea), I’ll probably post on the forum asking for advice. I’ve gotten some great ideas already from the snake folks here!

It is awesome that you are still open to the idea of own one even if you have personally limitations. I personally, I limitations that also would affect what types of snakes I could care for. When the time comes, I am sure that everyone will help give the best insight available.
