I have hatchling ball pythons and they have all shedded about 5 days ago. I have been offering fuzzy or hoppers. 4 out of the 8 finally started striking at the food but will not eat. 1 has gotten in its mouth and constricted but then let it go. It did not have any interest in going back for it. Not sure what to do.
How many times did you offer them food? If more than once, you’re wasting your time and stressing them out. Also, are they in individual tubs now?
They’re still a bit on the early side. Not every baby will eat at day 5. Some won’t eat for at least 10 days.
I would wait a couple of days and try again with a hopper. You may have to wait a little for them to feel comfortable enough to strike, so try not to hover over them too much or make them nervous. Sometimes if we move while they’re eating they will get distracted and try to make sure you’re not a threat.
You can try offering them a small hide or use a piece of paper towel to feel like they have cover. They’re little ambush hunters, so sometimes they really need to figure out what they want to do.
Thank you for the advise, I did not want to stress them out so I waited. Yes they are all in separate containers in my rack. Last night I left pinkies in the tube with them and left them alone. This morning I checked and they Ate the PINKIES!!! I so happy. They are thriving and doing amazing I will post pictures of my beauties soon.
