Total count is 7 eggs, way more than I expected! One is an obvious slug. Four candled with really strong veins, the one on the top right seemed to have some weaker veins, and then the egg on the bottom right looks good but feels a little squishier/deflated compared to the others and when candled had no obvious veins, but we incubate til there’s no debate!
Kimmy looked done laying, but when I palpated her I think I felt another possible slug in her, so I’m leaving her to it for the afternoon and will check again on her this evening. What a good girl, I couldn’t be more proud!
I had a female lay a couple of weeks ago and every single egg was “weak” when I candled them. I just checked them today and they’ve all developed very nicely and are candling with bright red veins now.
Hopefully that’s the case with these! I will say, the one that didnt show any veins was VERY fresh, so I think it was the last one she laid and could explain why the others looked better. Won’t give up on an egg if there’s a shot!
Haha, I’m sure I’ll get anxious over that too but I’m just glad to actually SEE eggs! Got August 25th written down on the calendar as the start of possible P-Day, though seeing how Kimmy made me wait I wouldn’t be shocked if her babies did as well!
Hooray indeed! So excited for these little ones! I checked today and the top right one definitely has veins, so at least 5 are good. We’ll see soon about #6, I’m sure!
She hasn’t dropped anything else, so maybe I’m just paranoid. She actually did take a small rat for me though, feels great to have her eating again after nearly 4 months of fasting, and so quickly after laying!
Still looking good, overall temps and humidity have stayed consistent in the incubator. I did notice the top three have some notable dimpling in areas where the eggs seemed to have calcified unevenly, does this look like something worth being concerned about?
But this last little one - the one I mentioned in my OP seeming the freshest and a bit different from the others - is still candling yellow despite looking and feeling pretty good. There is however a little red dot at the top of the egg.
I’ll keep incubating until it either shows veins or goes bad. Does anyone think it’ll still be viable, though? And if it does develop veins, I’d assume the baby would end up a good bit behind it’s siblings in incubation. Curious for sure, I really would have expected it to go bad by now if not fertile but it’s still trucking along!
We’re still waiting for Ororo to drop. It looks like things may be moving down with her, so I wonder if she’ll do what she did with her POS and go 10 days after Kimmy did. If so, she’d end up laying this Friday. Fingers crossed for a healthy clutch!
Anywho, I plan to do weekly updates with the eggos as a fun way to document them from lay day to hatch day!

I’ve had a couple with really bad veins and that more yellow color at first do okay. But I did have one of them just go bad midway through. There’s really no way to know without letting it play out. Incubate until no debate and all.
I honestly would expect it to go bad if it’s already been a week though.

Guess we’ll just have to check and see if/when it starts smelling bad. Would be pretty wild if it did end up fertile and viable at this point, but better safe than sorry!

I have a couple of Schrödinger’s eggs very similar to this one. I’m just continuing to incubate them. One looks like it might be developing veins. Might. I don’t think the other will, but it will stay in there incubating until there’s zero question.

Eggos doing great so far. The 5 in Kimball’s clutch that have veins looking great, but the one yellow egg still shows no development so at this point I’m sure it’s a dud.
I did move them around a little as I noticed the ones closest to the heat tape were the ones that showed the dentation where the egg wasn’t evenly calcified, and they haven’t seemed to get any better or worse since then.
Meanwhile, all 6 of Ororo’s eggs show good veins, but noticeably not as many/thick as those in Kimmy’s clutch, presumably because they’re only a few days old at this point!
Congratulations on a bunch of good veins all around! (Except for the one). Now you need a really good egg timer to assist you with the waiting (a few “nervous pills” wouldn’t hurt either!)
I’d say it’s a pretty great success for sure, that out of 12 only one doesn’t seem viable! Should probably not count my chickens (or should I say snakes? ) before they hatch though, as there’s still a lot of time between now and P-Day.
I do, however, have something pretty exciting coming up to keep me occupied in the meantime!
