Results of the test pairing, Leopard motley het “Dappled” stripe x “Cubed” stripe are:
9 more or less ordinary motleys
1 leopard type motley
5 “Dappled” with a range of spotting on dorsal

Don’t these numbers suggest incom dom if not dominant inheritance for the pattern-modifying mutation (Leopard-Dappled)?

they do suggest (incomplete dominance) but, it’s a pretty small sample. The motleys would also suggest otherwise. And in the original pairing, while some of the motleys did have some hourglass or bowtie markings, there were only two with the extreme appearance like the hypo of this clutch, though some did exhibit nice banding. Maybe it just affects stripe differently than it does motley?

I know you’re not looking to prove this out with massive numbers of animals (totally reasonable). That said, I’d love to see one of the Leopard/Dappled phenotype animals paired with a Sunspot phenotype Stripe. Btw, does anyone know if Motley presents in unusual any when paired with a Sunspot Stripe? I know those would be het Motley-het Stripe, so the phenotype would be Motley. Curious if there is anything usual about it.

I actually might have a lead on one but I’m on the fence because the owner wants to buy one of my animals outright and I would kind of rather do a collaboration. Like you said they are not that common. But you might be on to something even if it meant my new morph has been around it would be nice to figure out what it is. They both seem to have originated in California afaik
