Let’s see some Inverts

Photo dumps are ALWAYS allowed!! Spiders doing spider things is always cool to watch. I’ve got 3 rehousings to do next so I will try to get some as well.

Good luck on the rehousings! What species?

A hentzi, D pentaloris, and Nhandu coloratovillosus although I may wait one more molt on the hentzi. But I have an A seemani that is in a large critter keeper that I really dont like. So I may put her in the enclosure instead of the hentzi.

I look forward to pictures! I love D. pentaloris, it’s definitely on my wishlist.

Talk of rehousing reminds me that I need to order bigger enclosures for both my tarantulas soon. My G. pulchripes is probably going to need a bigger house after her next molt, and my T. albopilosus is maybe 2-3 molts away from needing an upgrade. Given the difference in growth rates, I expect them to be ready to be rehoused around the same time. If anything, the T. albopilosus might be ready before the G. pulchripes.

GBB’s are super cool. Ive got a list going now, once we get things rearranged and Inget a dedicated shelving unit for spiders.

I hope my curly hair starts coming out more as she gets older. Of my three spiders, she’s the one I see the least frequently. I really only ever see her when I feed her. Rarely I’ll catch her out strolling around her enclosure, but she’s very shy and reclusive. I’ve had her for 8 or 9 months, and finally saw her happy dance for the first time a couple days ago.

But she’s still pretty young and small, so I’m hopeful she’ll get less shy as she puts on size. She’s probably got about a 2" dls right now, which is huge compared to how big she was when I got her, but she still has a lot of growing to do.

Mine comes out more often since she matured. She is all holed up to molt at the moment.

I am so glad I am into T’s! They are so easy to take care of and so fun to watch! :spider::+1:

Today I met the tiniest baby Mantis out on my lounge chairs on my back patio. Barely 10mm high and palest green. Super cute and alert too. If I were up to keeping live-prey inverts right now I’da scooped them up, (pretty sure this particular species is introduced/invasive here) but it was fun just to say hi and watch them.

When I got my mantis a couple of months ago it was teeny! But now Manny has grown quite a bit! It’s so interesting to watch how their tiny heads turn! I could swear he was staring at me last night! Lol! :joy:

Not only sacrificial wolf spiders, but a sacrificial pair to breed, since it sounds to me like they hitch a ride on the male until he mates/female until she lays, then crawls into the egg sac as its being constructed to parasitize the eggs.
Sounds complex for a breeding project, you’d have to breed another animal just to get 1 successful pupation!

Got my GBB this morning! The picture is the best I can do for the moment. He/she is bigger than I thought it would be! I now have a:

Trinidad pink
Versi color
Trinidad dwarf
GBB
Curly hair
Pink toe
Chaco golden knee
Unicorn horn baboon
Costa Rican stripe knee
Trinidad olive
Guatemalan tiger rump

I don’t know the particular formal names so I apologize. I am just kinda plain and simple! Lol!

OK got 3 T’s rehoused today. Kind of a journey. I used the extra-wide clear acrylic shoe boxes from Wal-Mart. Unfortunately the lids were changed on these at some point. So I can’t use the really cool clips I got on Etsy for that purpose. Luckily, I found some acrylic hinges and clasps on Amazon. I can add some pics of those later if needed. The hinges don’t work completely as planned. But they do kinda open a little and keep the lid on. Plus I drilled some more air holes in all four sides. Used some dirt and reptisoil with corkbark and fake plants. And I gotta get new water dishes for them.

Anyway, first off was the Nhandu coloratovillosus. She really is one of my favorites and is getting some good size on now. She kinda cooperated and I was able to get a couple of pictures of her.

The Aphonopelma seemani is a subadult and looks really good. I had her in a medium critter keeper and just didn’t like the way it looked. So I got her into one of the boxes too. She, too cooperated. After I finally got her to come out of the catch cup. She was being hard headed.

I also got my Davus pentaloris moved over but she was NOT gonna let me get a photo at all. So I will try to get some later.

I also rediscovered that I need to wear rubber gloves and long sleeve shirts when dealing with these guys. I’ve got urticating hairs on my hands and arms. NOT a pleasant experience!
