Let’s see some Inverts

I would guess it’s some sort of beetle larvae, but beyond that I have no idea. It’s unusually colourful for a beetle grub, especially one that lives underground. Very cool find!

My thoughts exactly! She found 3 of the same kind, all underground, and I was shocked that a subterranian larvae would be so…pretty!

Found another female tarantula by her burrow today! This was a different one. She let me get pretty close, which was awesome. She definitely looks like she’s been eating well.

She’s my beautiful little weirdo! She doesn’t like to move off that perch really at all, even though she is totally exposed. Oh well, more viewing fun for me!

Just found this super cool moth at work. It looks just like a curled, dried oak leaf. Incredible camouflage! (Even when it’s sitting in a white stucco wall.)

Found an unwelcome guest in my house- a big fat Oriental Roach! I’d hate to have to treat my basement, since I never come across live centipedes and I don’t mind the spiders- who eat the centipedes- but Oriental Roaches can bring and spread diseases to humans…
Alas.
At least he looked cool, and I was able to catch and yeet him out of the house.

Totally loving the moths! I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a moth I didn’t like. Their looks can be fascinating. I totally adore their fuzzy little faces and sci-fi stylish antennae.

Enjoying the crayfish in the creek growing up was a true privilege. I miss that.

I don’t remember playing with crayfish in a creek but we had a separate 2 car garage built from those big cement blocks and moths would hang around the windows. My parents called them “millers” for some reason……

Oh yeah! I grew up hearing the name miller moths, too! Or is it Miller moths? :face_with_raised_eyebrow: Must be an Indiana thing.
