I doubt anyone had produced anywhere near the quantity of Super GHI’s as Justin @morph_jungle he is by no means a small breeder.
The weirdest thing about this is I have an adult proven breeder ocelot jungle jag that seems to skip a shed during breeding season(Spring) the last 2 years. He doesn’t necessarily show going completely in blue, no eyes clouding etc but his body darkens and gets waxy/shiny like a shed is coming but then nothing. He stays that way for a few months and is very noticeable when cruising as he’s squeaky when rubbing on hides/water bowls/sides of enclosure. He’s actually like that now, I’ll try to get a pic to post. So maybe it’s somehow a hormonal thing? At least w him, not sure w super ghi’s, my only experience w this in BPs is 1st sheds only.
Not doubting that, just throwing out another possible good data point.
Yes, but they were asking about bug eye’d making more bug eye’d. I’ve produced consistent non-bug eye’d super lessers with my original lessers that I paired for a couple years, replaced the male with a super lesser offspring, still consistently produced non-bug eye’d supers. Unrelated male is now used, now i am finally making some bug eye’d supers.
Where have you seen super chocolates have a wobble?
A friend used to have one that had a super minor wobble and there’s a sold one on europe’s side that has a wobble as well. Not sure if those two have a wobble because it’s morph related or not, that’s why I asked if anyone has noticed anything with theirs
I just got a super chocolate, it had some head shakes but i attribute that to being a skinny 70-80 gram hatchling and being worn out from being shipped across country. Today Ive noticed nothing but this is only the second day of having him.
I personally have a chocolate pinstripe female that I have observed possible “wobble” in. It is unconfirmed between myself, my vet, and several breeders if she does indeed display neurological symptoms but I thought that it would be worthwhile to note that chocolate may exhibit neurological syndrome. I don’t have any concrete evidence either way, but the observations I have made with this female certainly made me curious if some genes are more tied together than previously thought.
I purchased her at the end of December 2021 and had her shipped to me in February. Given she’s had time to settle in and for any initial stress responses to subside, I do find the persisting “head tilt” she possesses on occasion an interesting observation into the possibility of neurological syndrome in chocolate gened snakes. Aside from this head tilt as well as moments where she just seems… lost. It’s hard to describe and I’m unsure if it’s due to her still acclimating or another issue that I have yet to pinpoint. She has been eating fantastically for me and even gave me a great shed so while I have tentative plans to breed her still, it’s very much up to the uncertainty I face with her possible wobble.
Hopefully, my experience with her can offer some more discussion!
Do you have a video? Hopefully we can hear more from people who have chocolates and super chocolates.
I do! Can drop it in here once I go on break since I’m at work currently. Would love to hear y’all’s input!
Here’s two of the better videos I have of her. If y’all see anything out of the ordinary, let me know!
I am no expert on this topic. After watching both videos, I am not seeing anything unusual. I may have missed it, but it looks like normal behavior to me. Just my 2 cents.
I see no wobble there at all.
Me either
Based on that video no. But what about feeding excitement? Or lay her upside down and watch how she recovers, I’ve found those are most likely times a neuro would be noticeable in my wobble genes.
She’s never shown any issues during feeding, she’s always ready to go and hammers everything without issue. I haven’t flipped her upsidedown yet, so will do that when I get the chance. Thank you for the advice!
Fill a tub with a few cm of water and place the animal in there and watch it try to swim…
Could we add bamboo pied (small eyes) to the list? Not all, but most have small eyes like lesser pieds
Do they?
I’ve never seen on with small eyes!
Yep! If you look at the sales history all but about 2 have small eyes. There’s not a lot in the history though
