Looking very good! Soon you’re going to go from having not much to do to being super busy!
Haha. Is “not having much to do” a thing? I think I’ll probably go from “super busy” to “super busier.” ![]()
You’re right. I should have said “not much to do to care for these babies.” I always tell Dan they’re easy when they’re in eggs. ![]()
Glad to see everyone is progressing nicely! You’re gonna have a lot of lovely little ones this season!
It’s now day 62 of incubation at around 25°C/77°F and still no pips. Hopefully they start soon!
77F is a tiny bit low. I wouldn’t expect them to pip before day 70-75 at that temp. But you never know. ![]()
I’m incubating a little lower this year since last year I was incubating at about 29C/84F and the entire clutch went bad. Last year there was only one clutch which was embers but this year at the temps I’m using her entire clutch seems to be perfect and for cindys only about 3 or 4 seem to be going bad out of a total of 41 eggs between the both of them. It never hurts to be on the side of caution ![]()
Ehhh, I hope things turn out all right. 77 consistently is pretty cool. That’s borderline on the other end of things.
I’ve been incubating mine at 77/78 this year and so far two clutches both started pipping on day 68. Usually I estimate mine to be due on day 70, but they often go a little longer. I’m sure you won’t have too much longer to wait!
Good info.
My incubation area will sometimes dip down to that on cool nights, but that’s the exception here.
This is hopefully the last update for cindys clutch before they hatch!
Quite a few of the eggs have very feint vein structures now and a few of the egg shells are starting to thin out so hopefully they will pip soon!
And embers clutch is also doing very well!
I haven’t seen an issues at all with Embers clutch all of her eggs still seem to be perfect and ive seen plenty of movement in them too!
Those ones with the very thin veins look close!
That’s what I’m hoping! I saw little bit of moisture on those eggs too so hopefully they pip any day now!
You’re a good candler. Your pics look clearer than when I do it in person. Makes no sense!
I always use my macro camera! The phone I’m using is the Google pixel pro too so it’s got a pretty good camera
. And thanks for the compliment ![]()
Really great shots!
Shouldn’t have much longer to wait now.
Man, I was an iPhone fan, but…I may have to swap! I used my DSLR for some recent baby snake photos and they weren’t this good.
Giving this a follow because I can’t wait to see the babies pip! ![]()
well unfortunately all of Cindy’s eggs went bad and I’m really unsure on why. When they were laid they all seemed fine besides 1 which looked odd then a few started to go bad during incubation. On day 70 they started to smell a little so I made a little cut and a lot of brown yolk came out so I cut the rest and all the snakes that were in the eggs looked underdeveloped and hadn’t even formed any pattern or colour despite being that far into incubation. Only one snake had developed any pattern but had also sadly passed. Despite this Embers clutch which has been in the exact same incubator with the same temps and humidity hasn’t had a single egg go bad. They are on day 68 now and I’m still seeing movement in them so I’m really unsure what went wrong with Cindy’s clutch. All 21 of embers eggs still look perfect despite not a single one of Cindys making it.
