My first ever clutch

That’s kind of hard to say, as there’s not really an accessible diagram to use. I do, however, have a clutch in the incubator that is at day 32 of incubation, so here is what mine look like:

My flashlight is a bit too large to get a direct comparison, but as you can see the embryo is towards the bottom of the egg with strong veins visible in the top, much like your good eggs. As yours get closer to hatching, you may even begin to see movement of the embryo in the egg.

@caryl @caron @solarserpents @noodlehaus here is an update on the eggs

They dont seem too different since the last update and its almost been 6 weeks since they were laid. The smallest egg in the clutch also has a very large bulge and has a shadow when candled.

Is it still possible for the eggs showing an embryo to hatch or only the ones showing veins?

Most likely only the veiny ones. But there’s no harm in keeping them all in incubation as long as the bad ones aren’t spreading mold or attracting bugs.

I havent seen any bugs so it should be fine then. Hopefully they still manage to hatch vut even having any hatch would be a great experience

Thank you for the update! I am so hoping that ALL of them hatch because I know it means so much to you! Fingers and toes crossed! :crossed_fingers::pray::snake::+1::blush::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Looks like you’ve got several who are progressing along wonderfully. Maybe some won’t hatch, but as Olivia said, no harm at all in letting them stay in there. As long as they’re not drawing pests or causing mold issues, go with the classic advice of "incubate until there’s no debate. " It certainly looks like you should get some healthy hatchlings, though. Exciting stuff!

It sure is exciting and it shouldnt be too long now until they start to pip!

@caron @caryl @solarserpents @noodlehaus just checked on the eggs and saw some movement in 2 off the eggs with veins!

Congrats! Movement is a great sign!

Yea and if they take the usual 56 days they should hatch on the 21st!

Be sure to remember, 56 is just a guideline. My first clutch went to 61 days, but they can go even longer than that. Patience is so hard at this point in incubation!

I so cant wait to see them hatching xx

It sure is hard to wait. Ive been trying not to disturb them as much as i can and only checking 1 or 2 times a week. I understand clutch times can vary due to humidity and temp so i used jt knly as an estimate but i think a due date of the 21st-27th would be more realistic. Mine have been incubated at around 28°C and 80-90% humidity so hopefuly they dont keep me waiting lol

The waiting is what will make you go crazy, but it’s all worth it in the end! Based on last year, I’m expecting hatching to start around the 28th here. I incubate around the same temps/humidity. Guess we’ll both see what this season brings soon enough.

Next year im hoping to breed my fire pied too. Ill probably breed her to a snow to try and produce some avalanches in the future shes also het anery so that helps too

That’s cool! I don’t think I’ve ever hatched a clutch earlier than 65 days, but I incubate at room temp.

Movement, hooray! That’s wonderful! Do hang onto your patience, though. They may appear as soon as 56 days but they may not. I’ve personally never had a clutch hatch in under 60 days, and usually it’s a bit longer. Not sure of the average hatch time here but it’s likely in the 65 day range.

Yippee woohoo!:ok_hand::pray::snake:. You are getting so close to pip time! But remember: a watched pot never boils! Lol!

Heres an update

In the 3 eggs with veins I can see a big shadow near the bottom of the egg and when I shine light through i cant see the rest of the egg so I believe that could be the snake.

This egg also feels quite hard so I believe the yolk may have solidified

Quite a few of the eggs that have no veins are also turning yellow and i cant see anything when I shine a light through

I also noticed this on one of the eggs with veins. Is this anything to worry about or should it still be fine? Im also debating whever i should remove the eggs that look bad
